  1. They started doing a yearly walleye stocking a few years ago so numbers shouldn't be a problem. Rocky points are always good especially if there is a flat nearby. Last time we were there we were catching them along steep banks with deep water nearby. If you launch at Orleans Trail there are good places that fit that description close by. If there is a brush pile in the area stop and fish around it with a lead jig and minnows (say minnows because the ones you find in the area are so small you end up putting 2 on at a time). Lots of brush piles are set up on the lake. You can even download way points for them. Think there is a link on the Missouri conservation website. They update it every year.
  2. What pound test are you using for the leader? I currently run 8 but thinking about going heavier but worried it might affect the bite.
  3. Orleans Trail marina has bait as do all of the marinas on the lake. Don't think they will have 91 octane gas though. Just curious, what made you decide on Stockton? If you're looking for walleye then Bull Shoals has a rep for big ones. Does Stockton have a walleye rep now? BTW, my son lives and works in Council Bluff, how far is that from you?
  4. Just a typical dad bod.
  5. Seems to match the description of a silver red horse sucker.
  6. The ulnar artery runs right through there. She was lucky. Glad she is okay.
  7. Easy, start with the time of day, the weather, the water temp, the wind direction and speed. Then what you are using as bait and and what kind of area you are fishing in (don't have to be specific) and what depths. There are lots of people who don't know how to use a 3 way bottom bouncer. I know it really helped me to have a guide show me how to fish it effectively so describe what you are doing when you let it down, how far off the bottom, how you stay in contact with the bottom, those kind of things.
  8. Clever how you blocked the sign in the background. What hook do you use? I use #2 Trokar slow death hooks.
  9. Love to spoon fish but I hardly ever do it. Think the main reason is the likelihood of catching a brushpile. Seems like spoons are all hook ready to catch on anything. Mike Worley taught me to remove the barbs so it's easier to get unstuck. Any advice?
  10. We avoid the big lakes on holidays like this. Almost run over 2 years ago, year before that, it was so wavy my wife got sea sick.
  11. Thanks. Considering the cost it's good to know it will last awhile.
  12. Thanks. Most of the time braids lose some of their color. Does that happen to the depth markers on the line?
  13. Downloaded the app. Comes with the flicker shad # 7 pre-loaded. Guess that's to give you a taste and get you hooked. Not sure I would get the life time for $ 109 but will probably buy a couple of the individual lures for $1.99. He doesn't talk about it but does using a sinking line such as fluorocarbon make a difference or is it a non-factor?
  14. That's the kind of day anyone would love.
  15. Thanks. Guess I'll have to get the book on trolling mentioned in the article linked to this discussion.
  16. Trolling can mean different things to different people. Is it the slow trolling variety using spider rigs or trolling behing the boat using crank baits?
  17. Wife and I managed to catch a limit of walleye today. Nothing big most just barely clearing the 15 inch lime with one going over 18. Most were in the 15 to 25 foot range. Used a range of methods. Started with a bottom bouncer using night crawlers then switched to 1/4 oz jigs tipped with minnows. We concentrated on brush piles located near points.Still can't figure out the crappie. We kept catching one here and there fishing in 20 plus feet of water while fishing for walleye near the bottom. Would be great if someone could tell me where to find crappie during the day.
  18. Found this from a 5/10 fishing report for Stockton lake: channel catfish fair on nightcrawlers, minnows and jigs in coves;
  19. Catch them here and there while fishing for other fish. Think I would try drifting across some points with a catfish rig or drifting on flats.
  20. Nice catch, congrats! Thanks for the report, too. That NED rig is tearing them up!
  21. Got the 2 foot-itis?
  22. Excellent! Thanks again.
  23. Congratulations on the fish and thanks for the report. Were you on trolling flats, points?
  24. Nice report though not sure what "umberland" means. Lots of people seem to be catching walleye while bass fishing. Hope that means that trying to catch walleye will be even more productive.
