I have read and watched professional bass fishermen state that a good cranking rod should be fiberglass. I went to Bass Pro and Cabelas and did not have any luck in finding fiberglass rods. I have done some research on the internet and 'parabolic' is the term thrown around. How do you know how 'parabolic' a rod is. I for the most part have Shimano Cumara's, I also have a Shimano Crucial, Shimano Teramar. Any imput would be helpful. Thanks, David

can anyone post a picture of 'table rock shad' color. Thanks, David

Not to change the subject, but I noticed at the Classic there were MANY foul hooked fish. Why would so many fish have been foul hooked?

I first want to compliment this forum. It is a great tool for the average person who can only get to the water every so often. Thank you all for all you do. I have a question that will needs further clairification: 1. the fluke and stick bait- how do you rig it, what depth, what structure are you looking for, and what technique do you use to fish them. Thanks, I will be down late Mid April and would like to learn these techniques. Thanks, David

Humminbird Side Imaging And Down Imaging Pic's
stock jockey replied to Don House's topic in Table Rock Lake
Don, I have a question for you. I don't live down there, however I do come down a few times a year. If the conditions are normal, clear, what do you put all the settings on. This will help when I am down. I just installed the 1197 unit and would appreciate any input you could give. Thanks, Stock Jockey " -
Three years ago I bought a 1999 Skeeter walleye boat. It has a VMax 150 on it. I use it in many lake that are small. Come down to Table Rock 3-4 times a year. I only paid 8k for the boat. I usually place in the tourneys I'm in. Just bought SI on my electronics and am looking forward to slowing down when I fish. I think that an expensive rig is over-rated. Just thought I'd give my 2 cents.

thanks for the great links.... david

I am not trying to muddy the waters, however, I wanted to throw my 2 cents in. I have 4 baitcasters. They are all Johnny Morris reels. They cast a mile and I can fish for 30 hours over a weekend and never backlash them. You can pick them up on ebay for about $50 to $75, also, in the spring Bass pro will have them on sale for about $75. Hope this helps. David

My wife bought me a humminbird 1197 for Christmas and I have a question. The 1197 has a video output. Do any of you know of a set up that I could use the output to mirror the images on the unit to a waterproof monitor that will run off 12 volts? Thanks, David If you have further questions please let me know. Thanks in advance for any imput.

I am a new bass fisherman. I have read that it is important to use the same reel and rod type when learning. This is so that you get the feel for the bite. I am going to be updating to new rods. I am considering either the Shimano Cumara and the RazR rod. Could you all give me some advise. Since many of you are on the water 200 days a year your opinion would be great. Thanks, David

I have been considering buying a few Shimano Cumara's or a few RazR rods. Any advise? Thanks,

I have only fished the rock 5 times and Taney 2 times. I am new to fishing. Last spring we hired Bill Beck. Nada, nothing, blanked the whole day. We came back to our lodge and a couple staying at our lodge had a bunch of pictures of spots, and SM that they caught with their guide, Rick LaPointe. I have never gone out with him, however a group of guys that were in a little tourney this spring took first place after hiring him for a day. If I were going to hire a guide, it would absolutely be Rick LaPointe.

Bill, Can you answer one thing for me. Why is it okay to eat walleye, striper, catfish, perch, or any other fish besides Bass. Oh, by the way I am still waiting for the apology. Stock Jockey

Mr. Babler, It is apperent that we are both very passionate people. However, you have twisted what I wrote. Please go back and re-read the post. I stated that I do not think there is anything wrong in keeping short keepers. These in general are male bass. You have gone off the deep end acting like I am out killing seven pound females with eggs. You are twisting the truth. I also know that I did have a conversation last year while fishing. It was down the white river and we had a conservation agent talk to us from the shore. He asked how things were going and I asked him about eating small fish caught. The group of guys that I was with did not like killing the SM because it takes so long for the to get of decent size. I was just trying to get his opinion. He was the one who told me that there was a LM fish kill, and that the SM eat to many of the LM fry. Again, I was fishing in my boat. It was a casual conversation, I did not put him on the stand and ask for his license number, I did not even ask his name. That does not mean I am a liar. Lastly, I spoke with the lodge owner last night and he stated that his main guide will bring bass to him Many times a month to eat. I stated that there were two guides out of one lodge because we hired a guide last fall and he is a different guide and we went out at the lodge. Maybe he did that out of convience for us. I still say there are alot of people who enjoy a meal or two on the bass, crappie, walleye and catfish in your lake. I happen to be a bass fisherman. I don't kill bass that are larger than 3 pounds and most are much smaller than that. Most are Spots that are just legal males. You have twisted this whole thing to get your agenda furthered. Please re-read my post and apoligize for twisting what was said.

I only have one thing to add: Your a jack butt!!!!

Dear Mr. Babler, I have several objections to your latest post: First - It is hard to understand why you would state a resort owner should be put out of business for partaking in the legal harvest of fish. Secondly - It is offensive that you would refer to me as a 'slug' for my legally upstanding opinions regarding this issue. Thirdly - In my humble opinion, part of the wonderful tradition of fishing involves the social and familial traditions of enjoying a wonderful fish fry. *had one last night lake side Furthermore it is disheartning that you would threaten to thwart this dialoge because of our difference in opinions. Lastly, it is apparent that this forum is not a legitimate site for true anglers and passionate fishermen, but rather, a clever marketing tool for your own commercial profit. Ultimately you appear to be the one to be consuming the fish for your own self interest. Your beliefs and behaviors are much more distasteful than the casual outdoorsman wanting to be involved with all that fishing offers.

I was in a small tourney today and I did not keep any. However, there were 3 different guys keeping fish from our tournament. I think you all are crazy to think that fish are not kept out of this lake. I spoke to the owner of where we are staying and he stated that two guide lauch out of his place and both of them said that keeping fish from 15 to 17 inches is done all the time by the GUIDES. My next question is should we not eat the crappie, walleye, or catfish either. I did not say that someone should cut a big fish but there are millions of 15 to 17 inch fish in TR. That is after many people have many meals. Lets be honest God put the fish in the lake for us to eat. I will still be leaving the big ones but will enjoy any small ones. Thanks, Stock Jockey By the way the lake was very tough today.

You all amaze me with the 'catch and release'. Table rock is probably the best fishery in the midwest when you consider all the K, LM and SM in the lake. I was fishing last year and was talking to a Missouri Conservation Agent and he stated that he wished people would keep the SM. He said that the LM fish kill that happened 5 years ago hurt the LM population and the SM keep the LM from being better in size and population. I don't believe in keeping fish for nothing but I do not think it hurts to keep some of the shorter keepers. You guys have taken things to far in my opinion. Just thought I would let you know how a lot of us think.

I hired one of those great guides last year to have a goose egg. My brother and I paid $260.00 for the three of us to fish for 8 hours and not have even a bite. I know that things happen and last year the water was high. I do not want to name names because our guide was considered to be one of the best. He was mentioned in the hour and half recording on this website last month as the best guide. I would hire a guide again but times have been tough and we don't have the extra money this year. I stumbled on this website and thought that some specifics could be given. Thanks, Stock Jockey

My brother and I will be down in 2 weekends and are both financial advisors. It has been a real tough 15 months and are looking for any advise we can get. If you could help us with where to go and what to use we would both appreciate it. Thanks all....

My brother and I are both Financial Advisors with Edward Jones. We are heading down to the Rock in 2 weeks and are looking for any advise on where we can catch (and release) as many bass as possible. If anyone would be willing to give advise on where and what to use that would be great. We are in need of some good times. It has been a rough 15 month in our business. Thanks All....
