  1. Gotcha, thats where i went in as well. my friend has property down that road, across from the CA area. I need to get down there again.
  2. Excellent! i took a trip there last month and did not have any luck. It is quiet the pretty little stream though. I think i had one on, i saw something turn when i hit some resistance on the line and saw soem red/purple dots, coulda been par marks. What access point did you park at? the top one or the one after blue springs ranch road?
  3. its a legal thing.
  4. Oh ok i know exactly where you are talking about. I saw a bunch of brush in the water and thought it looked good. I think i'll do bank fishing, as there is too much water in it right now to be in my kayak.
  5. awesoem! I'll try and get down there this weekend then when it cools down some. hopefully they are still feasting on the mullberries. Where at in george winter?
  6. By chance would you be interested in trading for a Canon Digital SLR camera?
  7. I want to go back, haha. I can tell ya that much. We got kinda skunked on fishing, the weather took a dump on us the second day we were there and didnt let up til we left. So fishing was tough but i really want to go back sometime.
  8. I agree. This Allen reel is leaps and bounds superior over other reels i own. It puts the St. Croix, Cabelas Prestiege Plus and Orvis reels i own to complete shame. The construction of it alone is superior. Hell the Orvis reel doesnt even have an adjustable drag. that same reel they sell for about 50 bucks, no way i would ever pay that much for it ( it was given to me in a contest ). I'm going to put the Alpha into action tomorrow, see what i can get with it. If the trout arent biting i'll fish the pond with it
  9. One of my favorite flies of all time is the Royal Wulff. If nothing else for just how it looks and addly enough i have only ever caught 1 single fish on one. OUtside of that anything thats a dry is pretty much my fav. i dont fish nymphs, but i will throw big streamers, woolies, mohairs etc etc. Plus there are all those warmwater flies i love to fish, and then classic full dress atlantic salmon are my favorite to tie.
  10. You bring a valid point, is an Abel reel REALLY have 800 bucks worth of material, design, technology and labor into it??? i find it hard to believe. On a side note, the vest comes with a pair of "fly boxes" built into the upper section, however to help with the cost there is no foam in them. HOWEVER, the fishpond replacement foams for the sagebrush vest, are goign to fit in there just perfectly, and Hargrove can order them
  11. Why do you say that? But yes the reel is lined and on a rod, i keep it in the truck just incase i have to jump out to fish somewhere.
  12. So a couple weeks ago Allen & Co sent out an email of new deals and specials. One of the biggest things that caught my eye was his new mesh vest, which looks suprisingly alot like some of the FishPond gear, without the FishPond price. So I decided to order one, as well as a reel to replace the old, LOUD St Criox reel I had on my 3wt. I got the stuff in yesterday, arrived in a standard square USPS box. Upon opening it i found all sorts of goodies, as did my German Shorthair. Anyway, i unpacked the vest and my first thoughts are wow, this is quiet nice, my shorthair though so too as she was mouthing it before/during me putting it on. Try it on, fit was LARGE, however with some tighening of the straps, it fits very nicely on me, which I was worried about ( im 6' tall and pretty thin )There will be plenty of room under neath for waders etc etc. There is storage everywhere on it, even has a pair of built in fly boxes, but you do need to add your own foam to it, no big deal. It light on the shoulders and very breathable. Construction is very solid and there were no loose threads anywhere. On a scale of 10, im really hard pressed not to give it a 10, its very very nice, especially once you consider what the email price was, it'd be an 11. The reel. I got an Alpha 2/4 reel. When i removed it from the reel pouch it came with my first thought was holy crap this thing is TINY!! Well i guess i havent looked at my 3wt in a while because its just a hair smaller and wider then the reel I'm replacing. The finish on it is outstanding! Nice mirrored polish and didnt get covered in finger prints. Its very very solid feeling. Spool comes off easy, drag knob is large and in in charge. biggest thing for me though is it is darn near silent!!! the retreive reel is 100% quiet, the drag has a very soft, nice sound to it. i hate loud reels, main reason my St Croix is now the emergancy reel in the truck ( ha ). it sure does look the part of being a fine reel, I'm looking very forward to using it this weekend ( i hope ). On a scale of 10, i'll give it a 9.5. i honeslty think it could stand to be ALITTLE bit larger, but I probably have WAAAAAYYY too much backing on it to start with, but im incredibly happy with my experiance with them.
  13. Sweet!! I had one on in the creek by work the other day for just a couple seconds, got me all excited for fishing for them again.
  14. warmouth and rock are two completely different fish. What you have caught is a green sunfish.
  15. yup daily permit is for fishing the trout parks. even we have to pay that one. you can get the year for 42, or you buy single day tags
  16. Gorgious fish!! I hope to catch something that size again. The biggest brown I lay claim to is 19"
  17. Poorly. haha. Didnt even see anything that could have been a muskie. I just dont think it was ment to happen that day. i forgot my leaders, broke my sunglasses. All i managed to do was some R&D with the flies i tied ( which look pretty sweet in the water ) and catch a bass on a frog pattern. maybe next time...maybe next time
  18. So...who wants to meet me out there tomorrow morning for some tries at these bad boys?!? Im ready for them.

Cool. like i said, i am definitly interested in this one. i think the rainbow and cutthroat in this style would be cool as well. What could be really neat for printing purposes is make a collage of them. have like 3 5x7 or something stacked on a background, one atop the other. just an idea, but let us know what you decide. i'll be joining your facebook fan page as soon as it becomes unblocked at work haha
  20. Man i havent tied any of those patterns in YEARS. Maybe i should start attempting them again soon.

I'd buy one if these came to print.

    i like that alot
  24. There area bunch of crappie in there. they can be hard to find though. However once you do find them you will find alot. I have never caught them in the lake ( from my kayak ) but i always catch em on the bank. Heres what can be caught there.
  25. nylon rope does work well with them. White and red color combo makes them go nuts when you cast it to them. i just need to land one this year, i caught some last year but havent landed one yet
