  1. They are both the same, just the top one combed out a little better. Its also a size 1 instead a 2, so about 4.5" instead of 3.5". Testing at Taney this weekend.
  2. Trying to work out this pattern...
  3. Downstream a couple miles
  4. There's a horse of a 14 point roaming around the woods by my house in SoCo. Last year he was a good 12 point, my friend has seen him as well, and last year found both his sheds. We have thought many times about how we could arrow it and not freak anyone out but keep coming up short.
  5. I was also thinking of making this type of thread. I'll be there next weekend as well. I plan to chuck some big meat and use tiny flies. I just want to catch a dang brown!!!!
  6. I will echo the wind. I went out again today and there was no wind. It was slooooow. I had 2 really good takes, saw both the fish, but they flung the hook and I ended up only landing 1. When the wind was blowing the past times it was much better action. I caught a 10lber at Busch a couple years ago, that was cool. I want to try a couple of the other parks maybe this weekend, mostly Jefferson and Boathouse ( Carondolete )
  7. I'll do both as well. For the pond I'll probably do the foam dragon. Not sure for trout yet...
  8. Oh yeah, its totally wadeable. We got down to past Ashley creek and could have kept going. There are a few deeper spots but you can see them and plan your crossings accordingly.
  9. They were eating again today. Lunch time trout is a good thing.
  10. Wow that filled up fast.....if it opens up any, I'll join in.
  11. They were eating at Kirkwood park today, I caught a few on lunch, even one that went almost 18"
  12. Those maps are cool. I found my uncle's house in the 1906 map, his house is where a Ferry Crossing was.
  13. haha that's awesome!!
  14. Sunken crickets are nuts with bluegill. they cant get enough.
  15. I've also heard it can distend jaw muscles and cause there mouths to not function as properly til the muscle heals/recovers, more with the bass guys using them as handles.
  16. I was looking for more a general what are the fish eating, I saw what he caught that fish on.
  17. What are the fish eating Phil? I want to make sure my boxes are well stocked by thanksgiving
  18. Orvis just had this up in their blog http://www.orvis.com/news/fly-fishing/photo-of-the-day-possible-state-record-rainbow-trout-from-missouris-lake-taneycomo/
  19. These are some awesome flies, interested to see how they fish.
  20. It cant be any worse then my combined 110 pounds of stinky wiggling birddogs that greet me everyday when I get home haha.
  21. Just be forewarned, if I ever see that grey trailblazer and a guy with a black and white dog, Im calling for joe to come get petted!! haha.
  22. It had been the better part of a year since I had caught a trout, so that wasnt a good thing. Now in the next few weeks I will have touched a whole bunch
  23. I had a nice report typed, was pasting in photos and my browser messed up. Angered, i took a break, now it is time for fish porn. Spend the last weekend in October at Montauk for our annual October trip to Montauk. Instead of the usual saying "im going to fish outside the park" and spend the entire weekend within the park, i decided to not buy a daily tag, thus forcing me to fish the Current. Started Saturday morning at Baptist, with a 7wt and big streamers for browns. After being on the river less then a few seconds plans quickly shifted to elk hair caddis' with the clouds of caddis flies coming off the water. We switched back and forth between EHC and streamers pending on clouds or sun and caught tons of fish. I am working on a new streamer pattern and had several good follows, but no eats. I did have 2 fish hit it, but I botched the hookset The scenery was wonderful, the fish were willing and i couldnt complain. After lunch we went down to the wire and fished til dark, almost made it to Tan Vat. Again, the name of the game was EHC. We caught all kinds of them. Mostly rainbows, browns now and then. It was an excellent trip, I cant wait to get back, but there are a few trips to some smaller creeks and Taney planned before that happens. Anyway, enjoy some photos.
  24. Its been a few weeks now but I will post this up. Buddy and I played hookie from work and went to the LP, we started under the 63 bridge since someone else was parked at the gate and it was "shutdown" by the government The day was good, the is the first time I had really fished it with purpose. There was a big trico hatch coming off pretty much until lunch time, but we caught several fish and they were all nice pretty rainbows. Definitly bigger fish then what I was regularlly catching in Mill Creek, but I caught way more fish at Mill. Anyway, enjoy a few photos.
  25. I fished it yesterday ( Saturday ) and caught lots of fish. I also found quiet a few browns in reeds so I would suggest being careful where you wade thru
