  1. There have been many acts come through for 1 night that don't fit the demographic. Nelly is not changing the demographics of Branson. No one is talking about Nelly getting a theater. If we're going to argue something, argue the reality of the situation not hypotheticals. Aside from that, it's always seemed the most successful shows in Branson didn't have the biggest stars. Look at Jennifer in the Morning. Great marketing. Her face was everywhere. I'm planning a 4 days in Branson and I'm amazed at how expensive everything is. Close to $200 for family of 4 on the Branson Belle. 165 for Dixie Stampede. $75 for the Ducks. $150 for White Water. $200+ for SDC. At some point Branson is going to price itself out of business.
  2. Nice.
  3. If you believe all that's in the documentary (and I haven't had the time to follow up), VP Chaney was able to exempt the natural gas drillers from virtually every act ever passed that protects the environment (clean air act, clean water act, etc.). Basically there is no Federal regulation at all and it's left to the states. And as Al said, if the state has only a handful of inspectors for potentially thousands of wells, you can see how we'd loose. Could imagine the impact if the upper buffalo and upper white were contaminated? The environmental/economic impact would be staggering.
  4. It's called Gasland. It was HBO this week. here is his web site. http://www.gaslandthemovie.com/
  5. I watched that as well and it was very scary. What's also scary is that northern Ark and southern Mo were lit up on his map of potential site. When you find of the details, common sense tells you it will destroy everything below ground. We should all be very concerned and work to prevent this. It could literally ruin the water of entire watersheds. Watch it if you can. More than one person literally sets their tap water on fire. And it's not just sensationalize video. Of course, the drilling companies deny it. Hard to deny a flaming faucet.
  6. Ollie, that was pretty insulting to you. What was your response? Was he polite after that? Was he on duty in uniform? I think I might had accidentally bounced a 1/4 jig off the side of his head.
  7. ponca to pruitt is something like 26 miles. Hike up and float back.
  8. Jongoism toward American products isn't patriotism. I don't understand conservative, pro-America capitalist chest thumpers who then say we should buy American instead of the best product. If we truly believe in capitalism, then we should always buy the best product for the money we have. If companies want to compete, they will. Eric, you aren't putting your neighbors out of work by buying a foreign car. American car companies put their own workers out of work w/ poor products and not producing what people want. Ford has been the only American car company that truly has it all--fuel efficient compact cars all the way to the guzzling Excursions. I drive a 95 Mitsubishi Mirage. The most I've done to is replace some gaskets. It get 32 mpg and drive 50-60 miles a day. I don't know that I could get a American car that does that.
  9. I agree w/ the above, esp. #7. Alot of people will have you dropping a grand or 2 when it's all said and done. Go to a shop, tell them what you can spend, and usually they have something that will get your started. I got an outfit from Backcountry about 15 yrs ago for about $150 and I still use it.
  10. No joke. I almost stepped on a cottonmouth one spring day when I was in college. It was very angry. I nearly pissed my waders. I haven't been back in 11 years.
  11. Yes and no. If you are continually doing a "Save As" each copy will degrade some. It's like a copier. The copy of the copy of the copy is noticably different. However, if you keep the originals as they come, jpgs will work fine. Most digital cameras save images as jpgs unless you tell it to save it as a RAW file. But then only photo editing software like Photoshop can use them. I would scan them somewhere, copy them onto your HD, then put the CD away someplace safe as a back-up/archive. Each time you need to save something small to email or post, do a Save As from the original file. Keep that original file unchanged and you will always have the best copy available for prints.
  12. iPhoto would make a simple slide show as well. Probably better suited for a music bed than narration.
  13. So do you make these in addition to the reels?
  14. So if you don't have a fishing boat, you can't fish for hybrids? Bummer. What about other species?
  15. How is this a presidential issue? This minimum flow conversation is an old one and Geoff Caldwell of the Examiner should have done enough research to know that. Most columnists don't, though, because their column are self-indulgent, egotistical grandstanding. Powersite Dam is antiquated and makes up for a small part of Empire's capacity. The Joplin Globe article is much more detailed look at the issue. This decision was put in motion by acts of Congress in 1999, long before Obama came into office.
