  1. The WMA file I could play. I guess I don't have the right media player installed, and I'm too stupid to figure out how to fix it...better ask the wife.
  2. I couldn't, but I couldn't get to the last one, either. I thought it was just me or my computer.
  3. Gotta love the redbuds. Beautiful.
  4. It's not hunting or fishing. It's POACHING. They deserve having acid thrown in their faces if you ask me. Have you ever seen the documentary "The Cove?" You may see things differently afterward, though I'm not holding my breath.
  5. Geez, figures they'd drain it the weekend I plan to go. What are they gonna do with all the fish? I still got some time left.
  6. Thanks GD...will do. I must have checked that Mountain View gage a hundred times this week. Things are looking great! Looks like they're gonna miss the rain that was forecasted for today, so the levels should be primo. Perfect temps this weekend, too. Sorry 'bout the marathon. I'll have a beer and catch a fish for ya.
  7. I was cranking a Wart at LOZ many years ago at dusk. Hooked something HUGE and it fought like hell. My buddy caught a glimpse of it in the dim light and yelled "it's a largemouth!" I just about pooped myself until I realized I'd hooked a ten pound flathead right on his face. At least he was tasty.
  8. LOL I thought I was reading some Thoreau there for a minute. I'm still trying to figure out how to not fret over lost fish. It's like they say in poker, you never remember the big pots you win, but you always remember the big pots you lose. There are some fish that I lost 10-20 years ago that still pop up in my dreams every now and then. I gotta work on that Zen you got CGB.
  9. Man, downed trees in fast current just freaks me out...the only thing that really worries me on rivers. What'd you take that big smallie on?
  10. Man, looks like the water was really moving your first two days. I'm hoping it won't be that high for us. I'm sure we'll encounter some sweepers and strainers at least on the Prong section, but since the water won't be frigid, no biggie. Guess you didn't do too much fishing on that trip without any rods, huh? That sucks. Thanks for posting that report.
  11. We'll be arriving late Friday night, so camping at some access is probably our only option. I don't care for floating at night, especially when the river is moving. We'll just have to roll the dice and set up camp at the Prong access, and hope the undesirables leave us alone. Thanks for the tip though. At this point I'm really most concerned with the flow...looks like Wednesday's gonna bring some precip.
  12. Yeah, I've been watching the gage at Mountain View. Looks like if it doesn't rain anymore it should be prime. I'm a little worried about Wednesday.
  13. Yikes. Yeah, I just don't mess around with rivers when they're high. Too risky. JF has been dropping since Saturday morning, but it's still really moving.
  14. I Google Earthed it, and as GD said, there's a big ol' gravel bar there. So I figure once we're on the river we can camp wherever, even if it's at the access. That's my guess anyway.
  15. Thanks for the info. I'll post a report when I return. I can't wait to get down there. Haven't floated JF in two years.
  16. Sounds good...thanks gentlemen. I've been watching the gages and it drops really fast up near Mountain View. Looks pretty good for next weekend. KC- I'll leave all them fat girls in there, but I'll warn you...they're gonna be spinnerbait shy after next weekend, so toss something else.
  17. Looks like we'll be doing South Prong to Rymers next weekend. We'll be getting there late on Friday and was wondering if any of you guys knew if there was anywhere to camp at the South Prong Access...haven't been there before. We'll just camp at Rymers if not, but I'd prefer to just pack up and shove off Saturday morning. How's the parking there? Pretty safe? I've heard about big crowds of rowdy locals hanging out at night at some of the lower accesses. Hope I don't get back to a truck with broken windows and a missing trailer.
  18. My guess is if we don't get any more real rain for the next week, it'll be flowing around the 250-350 cfs range at the Mountain View gage. Anyone have an idea what that would look like?
  19. Looks like a blue to me. Bet that was fun on the fly rod! How long did it take to land him?
  20. Geez Nick. How am I supposed to decide whether or not to switch rivers for my float next weekend when you keep posting pics like that? Do you mind saying if you were above or below the Huzzah?
  21. Wow! What a PIG!
  22. Well it looks like the Meramec won't be cooperating for a float next weekend...from what I hear it's just too swollen to attempt and the fishing seems to stink anyway. So I need some help with a last minute Plan B. I know JF spiked up pretty high from the rains last night, but from looking at old posts and flow charts that river seems to drop pretty quick. Looks like there's some slight chances of showers Mon-Wed, but dry after that. What do you JF experts think the river will be like by next weekend? We're thinking about doing South Prong to Rymers (16.2 miles) and screwing around a bunch, or if the water is up some but still floatable maybe down to Bay Creek (25.2 miles). You guys have any opinions? Think there will be many floaters next weekend? Thanks for your advice.
  23. Anyone have any guesses on what JF will look like by Friday the 9th of April? It's really up right now, but it usually drops pretty quick. I need to find some floatable water ASAP!!
  24. Grrr...I hate to hear that report. I have a Meramec float scheduled for next weekend, and I'm guessing the thing will still be high and murky. Maybe a few degrees warmer will make a difference.
  25. I was gonna say the same thing. Great photo and beautiful fish.
