  1. I have pain in my lower back when I fish unless I wear my back support wading belt. I tell ya... it has turned me from a one hour and GOTTA rest fisherman to a 3 hour and NEED a rest fisherman... As for pain between your shoulders, Dr Jim Beam helps a lot... I like the personal masseause idea myself...
  2. More like "Pavillion Parking Lot".... Gill Jake Drake Shooter Gauge Sage Robert (aka Sage Rod) Zachary Axis Pearl Midge Cahill Dun Ginger Olive (Well, you've already got Olivia... close...) Brooke Dace
  3. NICE PHEESH!!! I love catching redear...
  4. Great capture! Just a smidgin' soft, but still great detail. LOVE the DOF on this one. I would probably go in and retouch enough to get that OOF light streak just over his back coming from his tail and above his tail... Looks like a little limb or bush behind him? What speed and f-stop was this taken? The softness I see when looking really close looks to be either too much light or too slow shutter to freeze him completely. Or was this a hand held shot? Could account for it. Still a really great picture! A lot sharper than a lot of mine for sure...
  5. I don't think I"ve missed casting any of the Sage or TFO rods out there as well as many Echos and Redington. The smallmouth does have a heavier wt rod feel to it in your hands, but the taper makes up for that in the cast. I'd go into my good friend "Uncle Cary's" seminar on the subject, but basically, the rod is made to get in those tight spots and handle the fight of the smallies and largemouth. But, as I say to anyone who is looking for a rod... Go cast several and see what fits YOU best. I'd certainly look at casting the bluegill/smallie/LM Sage rods just to see the difference. The rod Dano is talking about stays in my gun rack in the big Dodge. I love that little rod for a "beater" rod. However, you have to remember it is a FIBERGLASS SOFT rod and very different casting than any graphite. You're exactly right on the 7' 11" dimension, Ronnie. Can't use an 8ft rod in a bass tourney... Go cast one, though. You'll think you've got an 8-6 or 9 in your hand.
  6. No I didn't, bud... I swear it wasn't me... honest...
  7. That is SOOOOO KEWL!!!!
  8. Just about any fly rod building supply store or site will have them. Try http://www.jannsnetcraft.com/butt-caps/260705.aspx
  9. Congrats on the big news!!! (Yep... you shoulda gone fishin' that night... ) Yep... it happens for a reason. It's not time for you to go to Montana. As soon as you get your oldest son, Eric, raised, you can move...
  10. You listen to that guy? I would suggest casting the Sage Smallmouth rig. It is 7' 11" with a custom 290 grain fly line. These rods are really sweet. Maybe a little tight in really small streams, but for those streams I would go with a shorter 3-4 wt rod around 7' 6"... If you want to stay with a standard rod, I would go with a 4wt for smallmouth all around. But for sure, find and cast that Sage smallie or even the bass or bluegill model. I think you'll fall in love.
  11. Patience my friends.... patience...
  12. Nice images... Care to share your settings? I notice there a some longer shutter speeds there... Good composition...
  13. Yep... Johnson hole. Great little arm... I've taken a few Walleye from there myself years ago. You mean they still don't have water at the sites at Choctaw? Somebody needs to complain. That is a really nice spot for camping, but the no water thing kinda spoils a lot of it... Great to sit up on the hill above the beach and observe the (ahem) wildlife sunning by the water in the summer. Aaaaahhhh... fond mammor... uh... memories....
  14. Where do you get the burlap anymore? Nice looking fly...
  15. According to what part of GF you want to fish, you can be there in around 3 hours. I've made it in 2.5, but I tend to drive fast and know the speed traps and curves pretty well. Going down 65, your first opportunity is 16 over to the Middle Fork Little Red River arm area or down through Clinton to Choctaw and turn east on 330. Also, you could go 16 on over to Shirley, AR and try the Little Red arm. Or on to Edgemont. Actually there are TONS of places on Greers Ferry that could hold Whites. Click here and go to Google Maps and search for Greers Ferry Lake...
  16. Four hours each? Definately Round House on the BS tailwaters and Handicap on the Norfork tailwaters... IF the water cooperates...
  17. Correct-a-mundo Gavin.... Leviticus 11:9-12 9 “Of all the marine animals, these are ones you may use for food. You may eat anything from the water if it has both fins and scales, whether taken from salt water or from streams. 10 But you must never eat animals from the sea or from rivers that do not have both fins and scales. They are detestable to you. This applies both to little creatures that live in shallow water and to all creatures that live in deep water. 11 They will always be detestable to you. You must never eat their meat or even touch their dead bodies. 12 Any marine animal that does not have both fins and scales is detestable to you.
  18. Yeah, I can't see 4-6 weeks being a part of Sage... They are very responsive and usually very quick to deal with warranty. I can assure you the warranty is the best you'll get... Some may equal, but nobody has a better warranty...
  19. That would most likely be my choice as well. Although you're not going to find much of anything other than Browns and Rainbows... Any reason not to stay in Eureka those days and fish Beaver tailwaters?
  20. I'll be the first in line for one of them... I'm the chub champion of the Spring River in Arkansas...
  21. mmmmmm.... A limit of them would be nice... especially the fillets floating in a pot of hot peanut oil!!! NICE PHEESH!!!!
  22. With the technology available today and the engineering that goes into most of the rods, there is very little difference in the 2 piece vs. 4 piece fly rod. Many anglers prefer the 2 pc. because they are convinced that there is a difference. At one time, there was a difference in feel and casting/fighting performance. No longer is this the case for the majority of fly casters. The slight difference is the fact that there are three stress points vs. one. But with the tighter tolerances on diameters and other factors, this is still a very slight difference and is more about reliability in terms of how long before the ferrules deteriorate. I have several 2 pc and 4 pc rods. I'll take the 4 pc any day, especially on a longer rod. They are much easier to store and transport. The only downfall is the extra 10 seconds it takes to put them together.
  23. OK... All you carp and sucker fishermen... here's your fly line!!!! Michael, Tim, Phil? Got these in stock yet?
  24. I know it is in Bolivar on April 18th and will be at the A of G church in the middle of Hwy 13, but that's about all I know.
  25. Put your trip off for a month... Come in the middle of May and you can attend the Nixa Sucker Days and get all the info and sucker you can digest... literally... Sucker Days is a town even with a big Sucker Fish Fry. If you come in April, there will be plenty of guys around who can show you the gigging ropes. Just look for the boats with the rails welded to the bow... Anyone know the exact dates this year for Sucker Days? I'm guessing May 15-16, but don't know for sure... Yep... just verified it at http://nixachamber.chambermaster.com/direc...9|context=month It will be 15th and 16th...
