  1. I still keep forgetting to check my chest pack and see if I have a fly box missing... Hey Jerod... I found that box you're talking about. And I'm keepin' it...
  2. If you ever want to learn how to fish and tie on a budget with items you normally don't see in a fly shop, get Sister Carol Ann Corley to do a presentation at your club meetings. You will be amazed how much fly tying stuff is out there that you never really thought about. And she's a WONDERFUL lady to be around.
  3. JB, I'll be sitting in front of you as soon as I can get there and see you... I need to watch that DTT tie one more time... I also hope to get Cindy with Miss Lori on casting and fishing. She's working on getting her feet wet - pun intended... Thom... You'll just have to go down and watch Dan or John tie this bug... Pictures are few and in between. I think they reside just either side of the KFC recipe of eleven herbs and spices.
  4. Was it a wooden one with a wooden fish on the front of it?
  5. I don't have the back portion, but I do have the Windwalker, which is the chestpack portion. I LOVE it. I can wear it as a chest pack, back pack, side pack, waist pack, etc. Personally, I don't see the need to wear a backpack unless you are going to go to some remote fishing spot hiking for a couple of miles to get there, and that ain't happenin' to Homey here. But it would be good to store a lot of my gear that is in my duffle bag now. But all in all, if it's Fishpond... It's good stuff... for sure... (Michael... Tell Uncle Cary he owes me for this glowing review... )
  6. Get a C&F fly box and you'll throw rocks at the White River (BP) fly boxes.
  7. Click here to go to the generation schedule website... Wait until late this afternoon to check Friday's schedule since they don't post the next day until about 5pm-ish. Nobody can really tell you if they will be generating. The schedule itself is only a guideline. Best to call for current generation at 417-336-5083.
  8. Beaver? Or Little Red? And what do you consider "cheap?" Click here for some cabins on the Little Red...
  9. Dang... I KNEW there was a fly I needed to tie up a dozen of for this spring...
  10. Some pretty water there for sure... Thanks for sharing and keeping us updated...
  11. NICCCCCEEEE!!!! Gotta get the gear loaded... May have to spend less time at Sowbug than planned...
  12. OK... without watching you wrap a hackle it's hard to say what causes your problem. But if the guy jumped the gun and blamed the tool, he may have been trying to make a sale. Where are they breaking? Could you have bad hackle? Could you be wrapping/pulling too tight? There are a lot of reasons for the problem. As for the tool you use, there are several types of hackle pliers out there. Some even use wire clips as hackle pliers. I think I would talk to a fellow tier with some knowledge to look at your hackles and then look at your technique. As for the heat shrink on the jaws trick... Yes, that's been done. Not sure it helps. Not me anyway.
  13. I don't think you'll have anyone talk down keeping the smaller ones for dinner. I certainly don't have a problem with it and don't have a problem with anyone keeping anything legal. Several here will tell you that if they take a larger fish, they might just take it home for dinner. Nothing wrong with that. I only have a PERSONAL "twinge" when I see a true trophy fish - 28 inches or greater - taken home. But the person doing that is well within his rights and the law to do so. As I say, it's a PERSONAL feeling that I would rather see the fish put back for others to enjoy. Most times those fish are not that good to eat anyway. And I don't like killing a fish just to mount it. Replicas are just as good. Now if the fish should die during the fight, then that's a different story. Usually can't be helped and usually is an accident, so no foul. But it boils down to this... I agree totally with what Phil said. If it's legal, do it. Those that frown on it have the problem...
  14. Faith and begorrah!! Here's raisin' a pint to ya, Ronnie... and another... and another... and another... Happy Birthday!!!
  15. That's OK, Michael... I'll wear my "Davy Wotton" disguise...
  16. What Duckydoty said. You might even find him hanging out there and give you a pointer or two. Maybe even me and I'll show you the WRONG way to tie...

    Deer Jerky

Duane pours Dew over his Wheaties... If you cut him, he bleeds lime yellow/green... If you put some baking soda and hydrogen peroxide in his coffee, he will glow in the dark...
  18. We'll have to "hire" Tim for that... LOL Yeah... can't wait until the spring stuff starts...
  19. Wow, Zach... I didn't know about this either. But you have a GREAT attitude!!! Keep it up, man!! I'm looking forward to seeing pictures of you with big fish, turkey, bucks, etc. etc....
  20. Yep, Dano... you're looking downstream at the bridge there, but there is fishing upstream and downstream from the bridge. Better fishing is down below the bridge and up above the park, although I've seen some nice fish in the park.
  21. Doesn't look like anything I'd put on the end of a fly line leader or tippet. Unless you're just jigging it off the end of the rod. OR you just WANT to hit yourself in the back of the head...
  22. And what's so unusual about that? She usually DOES!! You only take her 1/5th of the time because she catches FIVE TIMES the fish you do... and they are all BIGGER than your fish... (Oh... btw... the secret's out now... ) And HEY... .I was in the shop Friday and ERIC WAS ACTUALLY WORKING!!!!! FO SHIZZLE!!!!!! (I'll be by the shop to pick up that $10 Eric...)
  23. This was more of a guide trip for me as I was taking my lovely bride out for some fly casting and fly fishing experience. But I did get to fish a bit. I did land a nice 8 incher right after you guys left, Don. Of course, it was a Horny Head Chub.... but it was 8 inches long... Did get a few nice shots of Crane at the park.... From the bridge upstream: From the bridge downstream: My Hunny trying to fool a McCleod Bow into striking (Is that TroutBum in the back?):
  24. Nice pheesh, MC.... Yep, a fish of a lifetime. Now about that net boy.... "Oh, Netboy... where's my coffee?" "Hey Netboy... tie on a different fly for me... NOW!!" "Hey Netboy... You know what'll happen if you don't get that big fish in the net?
