Isn't that what I just said? Thom, You've got a point if it is a double tapered line. If weight forward, the back end would not be the same. But good point...

Ozark Angler And Flood Information-everyone Look
Terry Beeson replied to Don Allenbaugh's topic in General Angling Discussion
There are other forums out there besides those two? (The only two I visit anyway....) And yes... thanks... and thanks for the webcam so we can keep an eye on what's going on at Taney, Phil. Plus, we can watch you work... -
My thoughts too, Brian... About the "Whitlock" system anyway. You could "weld" the ends together using a loop tip. Just cut off about an inch or so opposite the loop and push the cut ends into each end of the section. Then use Plibond to hold it together. I wouldn't trust it on anything of any size though... Although the loops I've used have held up well under some pretty good size fish.

Cindy and I took a trip down to see the dam and Taney. Took a few images with my phone... Are they going to rename Taneycomo "Lake Thassalottawatta?"

I looked at the webcam today and thought I saw you and someone else were fishing off the dock ramp... I thought "That dang Phil... He's fishin'..." But then watching more, I realized you were doing some sort of work on the dock... cabling? God had blessed you so far with this, Phil and there are a lot of us praying He continues to do so. Wanted to come by and check on you this afternoon, but time would not allow...

quiet secluded camping

Uh, Russ... That lady with the oar... She looks like she knows how to use it... That is from the looks of the dent at the end that resembles the shape of the top of your head... -
Phil, I'm getting a still image. The streaming video seems to not be working... But looks like your dock is higher than the pavillion at outlet 2... Ya'll OK?
-
According to John Wilson, the upper dock at Gene's is gone. The one on the web cam is still there.

Inspirational... Thanks for posting, Phil. I wonder if you've seen one of S. M. Lockridge's "My King" videos. Then watch this one... Should be played in church just before Easter or on Easter Sunday... every year... Sunday's Comin'... click here

You guys be careful down there... Prayers going up for you.

OK... I recalled a dish I had a few years ago and decided to give it a try... Came out pretty good. So I thought I would share. Now, mind you, I'm not one of those "recipe" types. I add a bit of this, some of that, and a dash of the other... So the amount of spices is not exact and is up to you.... to taste. 1/2 stick butter Olive oil (about 4 Tbs) 1/2 cup or so chopped onion Minced garlic to taste 1 qt half and half 1 can tomato paste 1 Tbs Italian seasoning (or oregano, basil. parsley, thyme) 1 tsp ground red pepper 1 tsp paparika 1/2 cup ricotta cheese Melt butter and olive oil in sauce pan. Add onion and garlic. saute until onion is translucent. Add the rest of the ingredients except the cheese. Bring to just a boil and reduce heat. Simmer for at least 20 minutes on low. Add cheese and stir until melted. Now... Take your favorite pasta and some cooked shrimp - peeled and deveined. Small shrimp are best. Plate the pasta, top with shrimp, then pour on the sauce to your liking. Of course, a nice Chiante to go with the dish is nice...

Hmmmm.... that's an idea about the beads/mono eyes. You do know you can make eyes by just melting the ends of some mono, right? What's the ribbing? Any idea what it's suppose to mimmick? It's a good looking fly that may get some bass attention for sure.

STOP IT, Snagged... You're makin' my side hurt!!! OMG, RPS!! The Hill!! Home of Yogi Berra! Home of Joe Garagiola!! The Hill!!! (OK... I'm sure there are many who haven't heard of it...) But that sauce sounds really good. I'm gonna try that one soon. It's going in my recipe collection for sure. Gavin... That cream sauce reminds me of a shrimp and pasta dish I use to get at Lazzari's, only it had a kick to it like a bit of hot sauce. MAGNIFICO!!! OK... Now I'm going to go heat up a Tony's frozen pizza...............

Snagged..... DUCK!!!!! Dino's or Atrium in Mt Home? I've not tried either, but have heard Dino's is good. I worked with a fellow a few years ago who was Italian from Boston (first 50 years of his life) and he recommended finding a restaurant where the chef was Croatian/Bosnian/Hungarian. He said Italian men can't cook... Then again, there are different Italian cuizines as well. But he ruined me with a couple of places he recommended in my travels. I found out Italian food can be "il più eccellente" (most excellent) or just good. And then there are the Italian equivalents of "Tex-Mex." I'd love to go back to The Hill for some really good Italian.

Trav and Ollie, I don't disagree with you at all. When I say I'll take MG over OG any day, it's just a comparison of the two. And you're right that Zio's is a MG rip off and the food is only "good"... I'd give it a C at best. There is an Italian place in Jonesboro, AR (where I moved here from...) called Lazzari's. It was an old Western Sizzlin' that Mr. Lazzari (Sr) bought and turned into a really really good Italian restaurant that puts OG, MG, Zio's, PH, etc. to shame. If you're going through there sometime on the way to Memphis or points south, stop in and give it a try. Most of the chains are simply "nuke and serve" joints with a bit of atmosphere. Anybody out there a true Italian connoisseur that can recommend anything in the Springfield/Branson area?
-
WOAH WHOA WHOA WHOA!!!! Wait a minute here.... I didn't think it was REAL Italian unless it was located on "The Hill..." I didn't care much for the Pasta House in Springfield. I'm still looking for a good one here. I had a coworker at St John's who grew up in St Louis who said she had not found one yet. But I'm still going to try DiGiacinto's. And I'll take Macaroni Grill over Olive Garden any day. Plus, Zio's is pretty good ambience and the food is good. I tried Rocky's in Branson (downtown - Sycamore. Hard to find, not much parking, not much to look at outside) for lunch a few weeks ago. Nice looking place and good service. But I hope the dinner menu was better than the lunch. Fair to good.

Is it related to the answer I give when someone asks where I caught my fish? "In the mouth..."

Certified Casting Instructor... The Federation of Fly Fishers certifies casters to teach fly casting. Sort of like a CPA... Doesn't mean you can't teach if you don't have one, but gives you credentials...

RPS, You ever meet "Elly Mae Clampett?" If my current wife and I make it that long, I'll move to the Mountain Home area when I retire. Maybe before. Only problem as John mentioned is the employment situation, which is not a concern for those who are retired.

No you're not... But you are so right about Al being a great teacher. I've had the pleasure of a couple of lessons and helping him teach kids a couple of times. I absorbed more by osmosis from Al than you get out of a lesson from some folks. Good luck on your CCI pursuit, Phil. I know you will get it...

Mike, I was surprised that the prices at BCO on W&J items was pretty doggone reasonable. Sure were a lot better than the Fish Pond brand next to it...

Two words... Fiber Optic... It's down the road a bit, but it's coming... I installed satellite dishes in a former life for a bit, and you'll find that many of the homes that have it installed have coaxial cable running just above the trim. If we could route it through a closet or something similar, that was great.

I'm a big fan of Hevi-Shot although I'm not a big fan of Mossberg. Yeah, Hevi-Shot is expensive, but you don't need more than one to take a bird, right? Yeah, patterning might be a bit more expensive, but I think you'd be happy in the long run...

Gary built those trails as a way to get OUT of the water at Rim when you've waded too far down and the water starts to rise. It was difficult at best to egress on the east side and you had to go to the west side and face a LONG hike back, not to mention getting back to the parking lot. I think he's getting tired of rescuing guys from the other side of the river... But as much, it is a great way to access great fishing, too... By the way, if you stop in and catch Gary there, you should stop in and thank him for building those trails as I know at least a big chunk of the work and dollars came out of his pocket. And he can give you a heads up on when the water will rise or fall down to the minute... you can set your watch by his timing from changes in releases at BSD to the time it reaches Rim...

I was in BackCountry Outfitters this morning and noticed Michael has a new "William and Joseph" line of vests, packs, etc. in the shop. I commented about it being out of my price range, but to my surprise, it was not as expensive as I thought! Good looking stuff... I especially like the built in zingers. I've got a W&J chest pack that I like (caught it on clearance) but it's an older model. I'm looking closer now at some of the vests at BCO... Any of you use W&J? Comments?
