  1. Welcome ODH... I use to live in Jonesboro and miss the duck hunting over there myself.
  2. Hey... I emailed Rib Crib about my "problem" NYE. They want to "make it up to me..."
  3. I didn't get to hunt this year... That's the only thing I miss about living in Jonesboro, AR. The duck hunting in that area is awesome! Since the idea of calls is to get the ducks to come TO you, I don't blow calls... unless I'm trying to scare them away... But I have a few different calls. Nothin' fancy. My favorite hunting is in flooded timber.
  4. HEY... Let's steal.... I mean borrow... that big mount in the store and take pictures of each other out by the casting pond and tell everyone we found a new "honey hole..." We be night fishin' for sum carps and breams...
  5. Hey Don... Happy Birthday Bud.... Just remember Leonard... Your day will come. Guys like Don and me might be too old to do anything about it, but we'll leave instructions...
  6. Duane, Looks like we're gonna hafta camp out in front of the store on Friday night...
  7. OK... yeah... that's what I mean... And no Beni's here... And Brian, I'm convinced that 90 percent of the people in Springfield do not work. They merely drive around from restaurant to restaurant and eat... 24 hours a day...
  8. Ryan, I started with a Fender VibroVerb that was pretty sweet. I have a Fender Pro 185 that I use to play through when in the band. However, I ran a GPX and then a DigiTech processor later and just used the amp for the dual speakers. Couldn't get the sound I wanted in the 184. I have one of the little Marshall practice amps that has a pretty doggone good sound for what it is. I use it around the house. But then I also have a system that you run though with earphones and hook it to your belt. Sort of like a CD player or iPod for your guitar... Best amp I ever heard (other than a Marshall) was a Peavy MX. It was not too big, but had a speaker with a HEAVY magnet in it. That thing weighed twice what my Fender did and was half the size. But I'd really like to have a Fender Blues tube amp.
  9. Rolla? I thought it was in... uh... Joplin... YEAH... THAT'S it... THAT'S the ticket... Joplin... Where I met my wife... Mon...uh... Morgan Fairchild... WHOM I've seen naked!!
  10. You have lights on your guitar? WICK-ED!!!! Are they lasers? spots? LEDs? No... I know what you mean. I've played 11s and 12s on my flat tops a lot. I had a pawn shop special that I had to put 10s on or it would tear up my hands to play for even a few minutes. Played with the action, but didn't get the sound I wanted. Martins are NOTORIOUS for high actions, but that's what makes that bluegrass sound come out so rich. I know a fellow who took an old Martin, did some sanding and tinkering to shave off some of the action... the guitar never sounded quite the same. Still a good sound, but not quite the same. That's one thing I really like about Taylors... They seem to have a lower action and a rich sound... At least all of them I've picked up and drooled on have... As for the weight of the Les Paul... Yeah, I know... they are heavy. I mean, heck... Les's first guitar was called "the log..." But I just want to own one.
  11. OK... so my step-daughter, her S/O, and the grandbaby are coming up for the weekend. We want to take them to a Japanese restaurant with a hibachi grill since they have never been. I know Nakatos is the "famous" one, but have any of you tried some of the others and suggest a better alternative? We want the entertainment with good food. The "experience" for first time-ers. We want to impress them with the antics of the chefs.
  12. I have a couple that I made, but need some of the foam tubing to make them more comfortable hanging on my neck. Any help on where to obtain such stuff?
  13. OK... I'll admit it... I attempt to play. Haven't done much in a while, but kinda like ridin' a bicycle. Have a tat on my left shoulder of my Tele... Have gone through a Fender, Alvarez (wish I had it back), Ovation, Washburn, and a couple of others in the flat top category. As for electric axes - Peavy and Fender along with a couple of pawn shop modified hybrids I've tinkered with. Settled no with an Washburn EA and a Tele with Texas Tele pickups. My "dream" would be to own a Les Paul and a Taylor... Scheetz? Where are you?

My website is rated on that list... I think it's like number 423,491st or something like that... I know this forum is pretty doggone popular... and is the top of MY list...
  15. Reminds me of my cousin's daughter who learned how to write checks in the third grade. That afternoon, she came to my dad's store and loaded the counter with candy and bubble gum. Now remember - this was the early 70s and you still had "counter checks" (blank checks printed by the bank with their information, but no account information.) Well, she just wrote a check for her candy and gum. My dad was a soft touch, especially when it came to her. Her dad was like a son to him. So he let her pay for her candy with her check. Well, an hour or so later, her mom brought her back with the candy and an apology. My dad just laughed. She still remembers that today. Do you have blank counter checks at the store, Michael?
  16. Dang Dano... what were you thinkin'? Just kiddin' Thom... Good to have you back among the cyber-living...
  17. I think Leonard wore out the bank walking around the outlet so much...

  20. "AWRIGHT.... COME OUT WITH YOUR FINS UP!! THIS IS A RAID!!"
  21. You got it, Soggy... If coming from the south (James River Freeway or Nixa) it will be in the strip mall on the left just past Battlefield. If from the north, it's on the right... (duh...) just south of Sunset, Mexican Villa, and Fuji...
  22. Great fish. Big smile... and I don't blame him one bit...
  23. What? For discussing Krispy Kremes? Or Ozark Oysters?
  24. Well... let's see... there are about 437 different combinations of size and tie in techniques... So have you got a few days? The first method of tying is to tie the second tippet to the hook on the first fly at the bend. The second is to tie just above the eye of the hook. The third is to tie six to 24 inches above the first fly. As for size of the fly, there is a whole book that could be written about that. Dave Whitlock has written several articles about it. Almost every fly fisherman I've talked to has a bit of a unique approach. However, there are a couple of schools of thought on the size. One is that it makes little or no difference. You're just trying to get the fish's attention with one fly or the other. Another is that you want the larger, more buoyant fly at the front with the deeper running smaller at the rear (commonly called the dropper.) Even using the first fly - a dry - as an indicator. Then there is the idea of tying a small fly in front of a larger fly to imitate a larger "fish" chasing a smaller "fish" or insect. Then there is the idea of tying an egg in front of a wooly bugger or other streamer... Then there is also... Well, you get the idea... I would try tying a small fly about 18 inches behind a larger fly to begin with. You'll find casting will be a bit different with a lot of these rigs, so start out rather simple. But get ready for some tangles in the beginning until you get the idea. OH... and start out with shorter casts...
