oops... OK... mis-read that one... Then again, I was really wondering if they had PAPER when you went to college... you sure you didn't do that test with paint on the wall of the cave? Nope... no fishin' lately. Too busy working on term papers, homework, and studying. Yeah, I get to "fish" on my computer a bit at times, but a 23 inch brown on the computer game is NOT anything like catching a real one of any size...

Nice pheesh!!!

Took my gun with me to the farm in Arkansas, but didn't fire a shot at a dove. Saw 5 this afternoon, but from the front porch of the house... It's so dry down there the doves just are not active. But I did get to see a few "animals" that made my neck start to swell up and fan my tail feathers... if you get my drift.... Bow season, here we come!!!!

Just so everyone will know... Those images were taken by a secret Heron operative in the Special Forces unit of the Heron Army... He was disguised as a beaver and hid in the rough around the construction site to get those images. They were confiscated by the TIA (Taneycomo Intelligence Agency) (division of MDC) during a raid on Heron headquarters near KOA. They were being used to develop a strategy for invasion of the holding pools. Certain factions of the Heron infantry and air force have already infiltrated existing pools and MDC fears that the Heron airborn and calvary units will be quick to infiltrate the new pools when first filled with fish... The heron navy continues operations to rid the lake of night fly fishermen... Casualties have been light, but new intelligence suggests the herons are negotiating with the Taneycomo squid to become allies in this battle... Film at eleven... (Thanks for posting, Phil... looks like they are coming right along nicely...)

Most of the Conclave has no limit on numbers and a lot of it is at the cost of admission including the fly tying demos. First, you will find a big room full of about 60-80 fly tiers of all types who will show you how they tie a particular fly and some will even give you a fly they tie while you watch. Then you have the tying coaches who take turns showing specific fly tying techniques you ask for. Then, there are fly tying demos by individuals who tie and have a camera on the vise showing the tie on a big screen TV. All of that is at no extra charge. DD... If you want in JW's nymphing session, you better hurry... it fills up fast and may be full already...

YES... YES... YES....!!!! WELL worth every penny. FFF member or not, if you have ANY fondness for fly fishing (did I use enough "f" words there?) you should attend Conclave at least once... You'll be back... It's worth the price of admission just to see some of the fly tying that is going on...

Hey Jim... Are you related to any of the Stouffers around Ft Smith, AR? Al... very good information and interesting. I was in agreement on the surface that the fish in question was a warmouth... and this does beg the question if I have in the past caught "warmouth" that were not actually of that species. Not that it makes any difference really since they still fight very nicely... I use to fish a lot of small creeks and streams in Arkansas and it was sometimes a bit "amazing" some of the fish I would pull out of them. Differences in one stream to another seems to verify there are aspects of "adaptation" that are quite true.

Good advice, Steve... Actually NOT a good idea to mess with the registry unless you "know what you're doing" but a backup of the file can "save the day."

Tim, The fall change starts in the north around the end of September to early October. The PEAK is around the last of October... Just in time for the big browns to start "dewin' thar thang..." Click here and bookmark it to keep up with the foliage progress. I'm thinking unless we don't get ANY more rain, this will be a pretty good year in NW Ark and SW MO.... By the way... If you want to do the Arkansas fall foliage, DON'T miss highway 7 from Harrison to Russellville... There are other routes that are nice as well, but 7 is the best overall to me.

Terry Beeson replied to jim murphy's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
Redneck? That don't look like no Budweiser tew me... And where's the beef jerky? Trained crew? Who trained ya'll? Captain Kangaroo? Ya'll've got the floatation dee-vices strapped on upside down!!! Don't ya'll know if'n ya'll use it that way the steerin' wheel and 8-track 'll git wet? Ya'll've gotta git a ramp, Bo Duke a rollin' jump, yell "YEEEEE HAWWWWW!!!!", and git that thing on its head to float right... By the way... can I borry that thang? I need to float the big Dodge 4X4 from Outlet 2 to Lilly's.... AAAANND.... Where are the fish pictures? -
Steve, Yeah, I had that video link myself and Hans makes it look so easy to tie. My problem is also the elk hair, but it seems that the CDC wants to move as well as the elk hair when I tie it... And you're right... less is more when it comes to the elk hair. The first one I tied, I swear I had enough elk hair for about 4... But then again, Hans is just a pretty doggone good tier...

Are you sure? Maybe you should take that test again... Yes, MrsDucky... you ARE in a class all by yourself for sure...

Good lookin' bunch of flies there guys... Hey Steve... been talkin' to Hans there? I wish I had watched him tie that fly at Sowbug... Not as easy to tie as it looks... That is a sweet lookin' fly you tied there... Have you fished it yet? I've tied a few of them, but haven't fished it yet...

Powerbait less thought and energy than fly fishing? You'll get over that before too long... Sounds like a good getaway weekend...

John still working his arse off? Still looking for something like I am? Hmmmm.... Landon... Good choice... But I bet John considered: Brook for a girl (as you stated...) Pat - (Patagonia) Taney - (duh... ) For a boy: Beau - (as in Rain-Beau) HEY... You COULD have twins = boy and girl - and name 'em Raine and Beau!!) Robert and call him Rod - as in fly rod... Hall - as in double haul... Cortland, Fenwick, Hardy, Orvis, Redington (Red), Sage, Scott, Shakespeare, Thomas, Weaver, Whitlock... Of course you COULD give him a name that would guarantee him being a world class fly fisherman, tier, and all around wonderful guy - Terry I know you guys are excited and of course our prayers are for a healthy li'l double haulin' stripper in January... And glad to see you on the forum.

C'mon, Skeeter... How do you REALLY feel about Elvis? To say the least, Elvis was not the "perfect" role model. But then again, who would you say really deserves that title? OK... one man... Jesus... yes... But who else? Yes, it's certainly a strike against him that he was a drug abuser and womanizer. However, the "sex, drugs, and rock & roll" scenario is very rampent in the music industry as a whole. You might just be surprised at some who are or were doing drugs and being very promiscuous. But as for talent? Who do you say has talent? Col. Tom Parker ruined Elvis, in my opinion. He encouraged and drove Elvis into many things that did drive many against him. Parker marketed Elvis like he was a doll, not a man. But listen to his early work (at Sun under Sam Phillips' direction) and his Gospel albums he produced under the protest of Parker and the record company. "Somewhat of a voice?" You're kiddin' me, right? Honestly, I'm not a "huge" Elvis fan myself. I think he was over-rated and abused and made out to be much more than he actually was. No, he was no actor. Yes, much of his work in the 60s and 70s under the spell of the drugs sucked. But he was a very talented singer and he was an entertainer. He knew music and what it was about. By the way, Cardiac... You might want to ask Ozzie, "Jackson", and Freddie Mercury (if he were still alive) what they think of Elvis. "Jackson".... Would that be Michael or Alan?
