Alright... Which one of you did this?

No Don, but did you notice those black helicopters flying around your house last night? -
Sensei Leonard... WE'RE NOT WORTHY! WE'RE NOT WORTHY! WE'RE NOT WORTHY! (In case you're wondering, BigD... Leonard knows what he's talkin' about... You'd do well to get with him...)

WHOA! Look at ALL those Squirrel strips!!!! Dang... If'n only it'd been a Pine Squirrel!! That's pretty funny stuff right there, I don't care who you are....
-
For several years, Crappie was my "target" fish... That was prior to fly fishing. Now I DO want to try my hand at catching some speck slabs on a fly rod. I've done the bass, white bass, smallmouth, and bluegill thing with a fly rod. Now, Sac-a-lait is one of my next ventures in the world of fly flinging.... But I've got my spinning rig in the truck, JUST in case... LOVE them fillets comin' out of that hot Crisco!!!

I wasn't there, so I can't speak for this particular incident or officer, but in this day and time, I don't envy ANY type of law enforcement agent their job and don't blame them one bit for being EXTRA cautious. The days of the "Andy Taylor" type of law enforcement are (sad to say) gone! Yes, it does seem some of them take it to the extreme, but still, put yourself in their shoes. Read the news and watch the videos. I knew an enforcement agent for AGFC that was driving home one night and noticed a spotlight out in a field. He pulled over, looked for a bit, and thought it was a farmer checking on some cows. So he crossed over the fence to see if he could help his neighbor. Turns out three guys were working on an illegal deer - out of season, doe, at night. He spent a week in the hospital because he wasn't cautious... The "wants and warrants" statement had nothing to do with fishing. But it had EVERYTHING to do with safety on his part.

FYI, I was NOT going to say "your hand"... I was gonna say "Very CAREfully..." I recently picked up the magnetic holder (with some advice from Phil, thanks Phil...) and I LIKE it! One half is on my back and the other half on the end of the net opposite the handle. I reach back, take the net, pull it around, use it to scoop up the dink from the water, and reach around and the magnet seems to find it's other half. No "dragging" the net around in the water and it's really handy. That's not his net lanyard. That's Mrs Ducky's persuader... "C'mere, Ducky... the dishes need cleanin'..." (At least that's what my wife uses it for... )

I hope Michael chimes in on the "multi-tip" issue. He had some good points about them at the "Fishing Streamers on Taney" seminar at the store last month. One thing to consider... the "tips" on this line are 12 ft long, so you will have 12 ft of floating, intermediate, or sinking line and the rest will be floating. This may not be a problem for most, but should be taken into consideration for the type of fishing you are planning on. Of course if you use a 30 ft sinking leader, it doesn't matter much... Hey Dano... what line do you have on that Eagle Claw?

Maybe it was a mistake... But Leonard gave me a couple of his new PSCSs and I took them down to Taney to try them out. Well, I got on the water, took the tippet in my hand, reached in my "man purse" and took out my fly box... Then I chose one of the PSCSs and pulled it out to tie it on my tippet.... Well... As I was threading the tippet through the eye of the hook, I looked down....... and.....

Did one of you guys leave your fishing tackle here? Branson West police respond to explosives © 2007, Springfield News-Leader A Branson West-area neighborhood was evacuated last night after someone found explosives in his attic, police said. A duplex tenant called police to his residence around 8:30 p.m. at Fritts Way, Branson West Police Chief Doug Rader said. He had lived at the location for a few months, but just discovered dynamite with blasting caps inside, the chief said. The area was evacuated until after midnight while a Springfield Fire Department bomb squad examined the explosives, Rader said. It was determined there was no danger. Officials are uncertain why the explosives were there.

Friday you say... I'm trying to work in a trip to Taney this "busy for us" weekend. Horse Fest is this weekend, so I'm hoping the resident "would-be barrel racer" and her mom will excuse me from that in order to get some cold water therapy on my knee... I'm making up for it with a very fine dinner Saturday night at the country club... Of course it JUST so happens the SWMFF banquet will be going on at that same time there.... Hey, that rod supposedly comes with a DT1F line.... JUST RIGHT FOR THE DINKMEISTER!!!! -
Jann's Netcraft Cabela's And BassPro come to mind.... Phil, Michael, Steve, Tim? You guys have them?
-
Click here to view a pretty small fly rod...

No David... It's just that SOME of us don't have to catch BIG fish to make up for short-comings in other areas... You know.... Like those who..... Drive Ford pickups.........

Barry Dauphin from Louisiana had an interesting trimmings catcher... His wife took a Crown Royal bag, made some cuts, sewed it and used some stiff wire for the frame. It fits on his vise and looks like one you would see in a catalog. But it has a "Crown Royal" logo on the end of it... Very KEWL... -
Yep... Sounds like a good way to spend a great evening with the better half...

I'm not sure you guys know what a real dink is... See below: DINK: DORK (dink specialist extraordinaire) holding up DINK:

Is Spring Break this week? You might take a couple of six-packs with you Dano and get flashed for a beer... I've been gettin' a hankerin' for some smallie action myself.

Thanks for posting this James... The felt sole issue brought up is an interesting one that most people might not have thought of... including me... Does this mean we all need to put our waders and boots in the freezer when we get home from the river? I'm not sure Cindy would appreciate that being right next to Sunday's pork roast...

In that case... I have two nets for sale...

Just received an email from TU: "Right now Congress is beginning its work on the 2007 Farm Bill reauthorization. Despite its tremendous potential, the Farm Bill has not traditionally been a significant source of funding for fishery restoration projects. A recent analysis completed by TU found that less than 4.5 percent of Farm Bill conservation funds have directly benefited fisheries and stream habitat. a We need you to ask your Senators and Congressman to make the farm bill more fish friendly. American farmers and ranchers have an enormous impact on the landscape - they manage fully half of the country's land. From Trout Unlimited's perspective, the key component of the Farm Bill is its conservation title that provides $4 billion annually for restoration projects and initiatives to help farmers, ranchers, and private landowners address environmental challenges. It is the single biggest pot of money for conservation on private lands - no other federal program even comes close. Despite its tremendous potential, the Farm Bill has not traditionally been a significant source of funding for fishery restoration projects. A recent analysis completed by TU found that less than 4.5 percent of Farm Bill conservation funds have directly benefited fisheries and stream habitat. Please ask your Senators and Congressman to make the farm bill more fish friendly. And please don't hesitate to get in touch with me should you have any questions or need more information. So the real question is, which can works the best for this purpose? Folgers or Maxwell House? Good idea, Dano. My sweetie will thank you for that tip... HEY... she can use that for her embroidery clippings as well!! -
And which "boss" are you referring to? Plans are not definate at this point, but I HOPE to come down Friday night. If things go according to plan, I will be SOMEwhere on one of the tailwaters Sunday... We need two volunteers... One for each dam... To hold a gun to the head of the guy with his finger on the generation button. Then again, IF I'm staying at the farm (Viola) and IF they are generating... I may just HAVE to FORCE myself to go to the Spring...
