  1. The blue ribbon is from Greer Spring Access to Turner Mill Access. Stoneflies and marabou jigs do well consistantly. They need to be fished near the bottom of the river. There is no dry fly fishing. At least not that I've ever seen or heard of.
  2. Drew, thanks for the reply! I saw your video and a few other on youtube which is why I started seriously looking at the Cuda 12. I have one on order with The Alpine Shop in Columbia, MO. I'll be 50/50 small lakes/ponds and easier rivers and will rarely, if ever, be around any exciting rapids. The smaller boat appeals to me because it will be easier for me to load and unload with assistance. FYI, Brian Sloss of Eleven Point Canoe Rental in Alton, MO first pointed me to Jackson Kayaks.
  3. I'm considering buying a Jackson Cuda 12 kayak. Brian Sloss turned me on to the Jackson products. I will be using it on the Eleven Point River, farm ponds in and around Columbia Missouri, the Maries, the Gasconad, the Current, etc. and other types of water from time to time. Does anyone have one or has anyone tried one and care to give a review?
  4. Awesome report!
  5. It was a great time as always. Looking forward to next year!
  6. Ok. I would like to join. I'll see you next week.
  7. How to you join that association? I see it mentioned, but without detail, on the bottom of that article.
  8. In my opinion, the river is more fun before the Arkansas border. I would suggest spending your time in the MO water.
  9. I use a 9' 5-weight Hardy Zenith on Taney and it works perfect. I've caught many trout using that rig on Taney. So, I would recommend a 5-weight. A 6-weight may be too much.
  10. Tie on some marabou and some flash about the size of the hook shank. I have found the gills react well to yellow. Acquire some foam form a hobby shop or fly shop. I use foam letters from Hobby Lobby and cut it up into cylinders. Slice the foam cylinder along the bottom so it will slide onto the hook shank. Place some super glue on the hook shank and then slide the foam cylinder on the shank. Wrap the thread around up near the eye of the hook in two places to secure the foam and to make a head. Whip finish and apply some glue. Punch a hole through the foam in two places for the rubber legs. Use a bobbin threader to pull the rubber legs through the foam. Apply some glue to the legs before pulling them through. Cast under tree limbs, near stumps, and around rocks and then wait for the explosions. 11. This fly is called the Pan Popper. I saw it on The Tying Bench on PBS. I have caught tons and tons of bluegill on this fly and lots of bass, too. This fly works well with a dropper, too. You'll get sick of catching the gills after awhile with these. The droppers in this photo are called Wicked Worms.
  12. Blue Gill eat anything. Tie some legs and hackle on some foam, wiggle it around, and you'll catch 10,000 bluegill.
  13. Awesome report! Thanks for taking the time!
  14. Now the question ... what to do next year?
  15. The trip was a HUGE success! We had an absolutely fabulous time. The boys made good memories that they will never forget. What a blessing we have to have this magnificent river so close to home. We boiled water each night and each person had a personal water filter. Next time I will buy a couple of water pumps. On Monday, they completed a 10 hour conservation service project (picking up trash, clearing brush, and adding or replacing trail marker signs along the Ozark Trail River Trail starting at the Greer trail head. And then they completed a 40-mile float from Greer to Dalton, AR from Tue-Sat. The scouts and leaders successfully earned the BSA 50-Miler award. A big shout out and thanks to Brian Sloss and Eleven Point Canoe River. It wouldn't have been possible without them. Thank you to you all for all of the information on water purification. Here are the photos from our trip: https://picasaweb.go...50MileCanoeTrip
  16. I would not turn my nose up at any suggestions you can offer.
  17. This is the most epic thread hijack ever.
  18. We will be staying at Route33 campground which is off of Hwy J near Hwy 44.
  19. I'm planning to take my kids on float trip this Friday (07/20). Is the river high enough for an enjoyable float trip without too much dragging?
  20. Nope. This is our first float as a Troop.
  21. I'm take a scout troop on a 50mile float on the Eleven Point River in two weeks. I'm trying to figure out the best way to have drinking water for the whole trip. Is it safe to boil the EPR water for 3 minutes and then drink it? If not, are there other suggestions?
  22. There was an AWESOME article in this month's American Angler magazine about hand-made leaders. You should pick up a copy and give it a read!
