  1. I'll third that to anyone with any info. What's the water level and temperatures? Anyone actually doing any fishing on Stockton? Is Orleans Trail open??
  2. Happy Birthday a day late to Denjac. Sorry I didn't see your profile until this am. KCBear
  3. Thank you to everyone that responded to my post regarding GPS. Your information and experiences with it at Stockton will be most helpful. It may be a little while before I get to try it out-- Boat is double covered, but has about 10 inches of snow on it right now-- Next thing I will be wanting to know is "Are the ramps open, and is the lake not frozen?" Some guys (like me) are never satisfied--always asking questions!!! Thanks again. KC Bear
  4. Fishmeister, I don't think my Garmin is capable of computer connection. It is an eTrex H-- bought at Bass Pro last week. Small, hand held. Literature doesn't indicate ability to hook up to computer. I told them I just wanted to be able to enter at least 100 way points because I intend to use this one only for Stockton. I see no ports or connections. Very simple model, but about all I want to try and master!!! Some day I'll be there full time and will have all the best spots memorized! Still need to work some for another year or so. KC Bear
  5. I just finished loading all 55 of the brush piles/fish structures that I am aware of on Stockton. It took me quite a while to do it-- lots of key strokes on my Garmin hand held. Does anyone else use GPS to locate points on the lake? Do these little contraptions actually work? I would like to hear your experiences with modern technology and fishing. I am from the old school. Used to be when I found a good spot, I would just put an "X" on it in the bottom of my boat !! Can't wait for a decent day to try out my new toy-- let me hear from you.
  6. I know some of you die hards have been out there despite the cold temperatures-- In fact, I intend to make a trip down about Thursday and Friday this week if it looks like the daytime temp will bust 40. What I want to know is how the fishin' and the catchin' have been lately. I gather the crappie catchin' should be good about now. What about bass? Are the wallies roaming deep water now? Tell me your stories-- I love to hear the when, where and how, and how much for Stockton. Thanking you in advance-- KC BEAR
  7. denjac.-- do you think the bass and whites will still be in the area you described above come this Thursday and Friday-- After some funky snowy weather in KC I might try to break south for a day or so. ( I think you mentioned some brushy points about midway down the sac around Mutton Creek).
  8. Thanks for the two replies-- I stayed home- fished a 900 acre local lake (Longview). Water was about 55 degrees, with a little color. Beat the water for nearly 5 hours without so much as a nibble-- no bass, no crappie, no walleye, NO NOTHING!! But it was a beautiful day, and the fishing was good!!! Maybe I'll try Stockton tomorrow since it is a holdiay and I don't have to work. Again, thanks for the responses-- and I certainly hope things have already picked up for you.
  9. I would appreciate any current update on the what, where, and when, and how concerning the fishing on Stockton. I have learned a lot about the lake from reading the posts you guys put up-- both the guides and the guys like me that love to fish. I also depend on this board for things like clarity, lake level, water temps, and all the other little idiosyncrasies that are particular to this lake. I wanna come down and fish again Saturday-- Your experiences over the last couple of weeks might just make or break this plan!! Thank you, in advance for your thoughts.
  10. A few days late, but still paying attention.
  11. So-- I'm trying to work out a short trip this coming Saturday/Sunday to do a little bass fishin, but you guys make it sound like maybe I should be going after walleye or crappie. I know the weather has been funky in the KC area as well, but was hoping that Stockton might still surrender some decent bass catching. Why do you think it is slow right now-- high water? changing temperatures? goofy weather? Do you think another 5-6 days of on again, off again rain and up and down air temps will make it stay slow? Are you able to locate fish, but they just aren't interested? The walleye reports sound decent, but I really like catching bass!
  12. As I mentioned in a earlier post-- I only began fishing Stockton in July. So far my fishing has been confined to the western side of the lake, north of the 215 bridge, and within about 1/4 mile of the ramp at Greenfield, is it? I don't have a lot of experience on the lake, and just wondered if you could be a little more specific about "the flats" Are there "flats north of the bridge? How deep are these flats? I'm not trying to be a smart a**, I could really use some help here. I will probably be driving down from my KC area home at least twice a month til the fish quit biting, or the ramps freeze up. (Does this lake freeze, or are the ramps sometimes iced in?) I thank you all for any help. I am in love with this lake, and will learn it over time, but, I would like to get more familiar quickly. I contacted my buddy in Springfield yesterday and he is picking me up a topo map, which should help a lot. Thanks to all,
  13. Thank you, gentlemen, for your responses. It would seem that Fin and Feather wins. I have a fishin' buddy in Springfield-- I'll have him get me one!! Thanks, again.
  14. I would really like to find, beg, borrow, or steal a topograghical map of Stockton-- if such a thing exists. I have located several slightly different maps on the internet, but none that indicates depth contours and such. If anyone on this forum can help, I would be most appreciative.
  15. New to forum- also new to Stockton Lake. Began fishing there in July. Last week I fished Sunday eve., Monday (before the storms) Tuesday, and Wed. morning. Caught at least twenty five LM, 6 smallies. My partner caught a ton of bluegill, and one nice 20 inch walleye. Three of my smallies were keeper size, with the largest just over 18 inches. All of my bass came on chug bugs, and buzz baits, cause that is how I love to fish. The walleye and gills were on a crappie jig. Same two guys fished yesterday-- nearly eight hours from 7am on-- 8 bites, two hook ups and none boated!! 5 bites and both hook ups were on top water. Great day fishing, bad day catching-- but I'll tell you all now- I am already planning my next trip down!!
