  1. Thank you Andy. That is amazing! I saved all of the PDFs.
  2. Wayne, you are right sir. I haven't seen them colored like a redband either.
  3. Noone else has any input on this?
  4. I might make a few phone calls next week and see if I can't scare up some information on this. Might see if Chief has any contacts at the hatchery, with it being like five miles from his door and all. Laker, after I heard this from my boss I was like, wow, I had heard rumors, but here is a first hand account of a hatchery truck putting trout in the creek.
  5. I am curious when the last MDC acknowledged stocking of Crane was, as in my research of McCloud Redbands I have come across their spawn schedule, which typically takes place in June. I know that does not jibe with what we know of the fish in Crane, but is it possible that the difference in the water temperature fluctuations here as opposed to the McCloud drainage in California? I hope that the fish are pure McClouds, but the possibility then is that they could be hybrids... My superintendent at work grew up in Crane and he remembers a stocking around 1968 where the state dumped trout into the creek there in Crane. Are any of you privy to this type of information?
  6. For big fish, I would choose fall, mid to late fall to be exact. Avoid the spawn and do not fish to spawning fish.
  7. We haven't had leaves for two plus weeks up here. Kind of sad really.
  8. You WILL put a lot of water in the boat from the boots.
  9. In my eyes it does.
  10. I will tell you where an unnatural spring creek trout fishery should take precedence. That point is when the trout in the spring creek can sustain themselves without the assistance of big brother and the hatcheries. Crane could benefit from A big boulder in the bridge hole, mic says that Blue Spring Creek could benefit from some rocks in the creek, any of the wild trout creeks around Rolla could use some work done to add fish holding habitat. Hell, even a fishery such as Capps Creek could benefit from a few boulders placed in runs, not to mention Hickory Creek which the boulders will add valuable fish holding habitat. Taneycomo is a fishery for trout which may as well be sterile. These rocks will be rolled around and into a hole somewhere during our next high water event. I hope THAT goes into their little butt-kissing report as to how "well" they spent the money.
  11. Simms Blackfoots are $149.
  12. Dumb question from the peanut gallery... What happens when they are running 8 units again? Aren't those small rocks going to get washed away? They can't weigh any more than 500 pounds max. We only have 4 units. There are much smaller rocks in the stream bed that have not moved, even through this spring's flow.
  13. Brian, you are taller than me so it is all good.
  14. Hey Justin, chill, it was a joke about bubba. I was aware that they didn't stock often, but didn't know it hadn't been for 45 years.
  15. Brian, you are wrong there bubba. Taken directly from http://mdc.mo.gov/fishing/places-fish/trout-areas "North Fork of the White, Eleven Point and Current rivers are stocked periodically." They do stock the NFOW with bows periodically. Drop that line about they haven't been stocked in fifty years please, it is misleading. I am grateful to have these types of waters in the Ozarks to fish. I will not expound on my opinion on it either way, except to say that these waters add a touch of diversity to what should be top quality smallmouth fishing all over the region. On the subject of dunking, I want to see that Brian. I am 5'7" tall, played soccer my whole life and rarely lost a ball in the air not because I could outjump the other guys (30" vertical didn't help much) but because I used my body to shield or apply pressure to my defender. Dunking was a pipedream that I couldn't ever make happen, but I enjoyed trying.
  16. What was said is that we would stick to river fishing if lake fishing drums up this much ego and bs. I guess in the world of OB, where he is god, that is irrelevant, but in truth, it is as much of an opinion as offering that rich bastard Roland Martin a Franklin for gas just because.
  17. Wouldn't be the first time you have pissed me off Ronnie. For someone making a comment about being childish, you take the cake little boy. Anyone who has as big an ax to grind as you do, has to have their panties in a wad, funny how I worded that, right? You always wish to prove other people wrong when you cannot even seem to prove yourself right. Now, when one gives their opinion, it is just that, meant to be taken with a grain of salt. Now, when Chief gave an opinion (which I agree with more than you could know) that more than a couple people on here took offense to, he defended his opinion. Is that wrong? Nope. That is the way it is supposed to work. Then people got nasty over the thought that some might not think big water fishing is the greatest thing since sliced bread. I piped up adding my opinion that competition serves to ruin something you enjoy. Was I wrong? Nope, it was my opinion.
  18. Wow, people thinking Chief is talking about rivers vs lakes, when he is talking about assholes vs good, laid back guys. What is the benefit of fishing tournaments? Is it the waste of money in hopes that you can get in the money at the end of the deal? I guess so, but honestly, there is no point in fishing competitively if you enjoy fishing for relaxation. Competition will serve to ruin something you love. I have been there and refuse to compete unless it is something like who buys the first beer that night.
  19. Billfo, look forward to talking with you. Chief, which reels you wanting to unload?
  20. Thanks Chris, but I much prefer the round styled reels. I appreciate the interest.
  21. I love that Remi...I am looking at picking up a Mossberg 590A1 for turkey duty, sporting clays as well as home defense should the need arise. It will also get a little deer duty with slugs. I love the tactical shotguns and believe they are infinitely more usable than most people think. With the right choke setup, you can shoot a deer at 100 yards accurately with good optics and a slug.
  22. Let me know if you have any round-styled baitcasters for sale that are in optimal user condition, but not the prettiest. I am down to talk trade or sale, let me know folks! Thanks. My PM box is open.

    Big Sugar Report

Congratulations. That is one of my favorite creeks and you fished below where we did over the summer. Above there, the four of us had probably 300 fish between us in a 6 mile float. Very productive water. Glad to hear that you enjoyed yourself...Take the kiddo on the same float buddy!
  24. We need to catch and fry us a mess of them little critters! That sounds good going into winter...darn the luck with me being up in New York during prime river fishin' season.
  25. Show me where I said the White River "caught" didymo. You can't because I didn't, but you almost certainly will try. If you are going to try to tell me I said something, make darn sure it is what I said. For example, when your body is primed for infection, it takes less of the bacteria or virus, whichever it is, to cause a successful infection, correct? This is the same way with the river system and didymo. When water temperatures were higher, as they were pre-dam, the river is almost impervious to a coldwater organism regardless of how much of the substance is placed in the river. If the water temperature had nothing to do with it, why is there no didymo in ANY stretch of river holding predominantly smallmouth? Simple, the conditions are not right. It is shady because the state knows they are going to rake in the taxes from everyone who gives a darn buying rubber soled boots rather than nursing their old felts through another year. Don't think that the money had nothing to do with this.
