  1. Count me in! I'll send ya an email and mark my calender! John
  2. SWEEEET! Being a veteran myself I'm very pleased to see this happen. I noticed another post about volunteering - count me in! I'll visit that post now and sign up. John
  3. Yup! I was in the volunteer program. That was my transition from teaching at the Juco to public service. Went full time with the FD and then moved on to EMS. We'll have to meet sometime and do some fishing. John
  4. TB - if you call 866-494-1993 they can give you the current "plan" for generation for today and tomorrow. It's an automated line and can be a bit troublesome to use, but good information. You can also use the website Terry eluded to plus the "math" to figure generation as well. So - are you originally from Chanute then? I lived in Chanute from 1986 to 2002 and now live in Erie. John
  5. BBQ I hope! Let me know when it's done, cause I know an Arkie knows the right way to BBQ a possum. John
  6. Glad to hear your staying! Sounds like things are looking up for you. I'll keep you in my prayers and I know that He will look after and provide for you and your family. It's amazing what can be learned when you trust in his decisions and let Him lead you through the tough times as well as the good. God Bless and be safe John
  7. Jeff - got your flies today. If the rest of you guys tie up as nice a fly as these two I'm going to a fly shop and buy mine! These fly's are great! Thanks for the extras Jeff. They'll go to good use. John
  8. Ahhhh stop it you guys! I can't see for the mist in my eyes. Jake was my best friend, a Brittany also. Spent many an hour in the woods behind him. I can remember a day he was doing his job; and pretty darn good at it too; but I was not keeping up my end of the bargain. After about my third or fourth (okay - maybe tenth) miss for the day, Ol' Jake stood there watching the bird fly off, turned his head to one side to give me "that look." He did it better than my wife! I still remember that day and always will. It was our best ever, even if I didn't keep up my part. I have another Britt now, Sadie, she's a good friend and hunter as well, but every time we go to the field I still remember Jake and what a pleasure it was to just be out there with him. If dogs do go to heaven I'll see him again and this time I won't miss. Thanks for the memories guys. John
  9. Glad to hear all is looking up. Also, VERY glad to see the report back up. Like JJ - this is my "fix" for the days that I'm stuck at home. It sure helps to pass the time when I'm not on the water. John
  10. Mike - got your flies in the mail today! Wow - these should be killers. They look great and I can't wait to try them on the water. John
  11. Ducky - looks like generation is planned for most of the day and night so we have postponed our trip. I'll let ya know when the next date will be. Hope to catch up with you guys soon so I can join "the club." John
  12. Well it looks like generation is on the schedule for most of the day and night. So, rather than taking a chance of not getting to fish we have postponed our trip to a later date. Hope it won't be too long of a wait, but work has been busy and getting two days off at a time has been near impossible. John
  13. Welcome to the forum and the world of fly-fishing! It's a great sport and very addictive (so be careful). I've been at it for about five years now and love every minute. Hope to see ya at Taney next year - it's well worth the trip. John
  14. It's got my vote! John
  15. Sounds fun! I hope you've got pictures! Have a great trip. Be safe . . . John
  16. WOW! Great fish I bet that was a blast getting in. Makes the heat seem not so hot! John
  17. I like the site. I like the thought of coming down for the Fall Flingers gathering as well. Hope to make it this year. John
  18. You've come to the right place. Welcome to the crazy farm. You'll find that everyone on here is willing to help out with info all ya gotta do is ask. See ya on the water. John
  19. I'm planning on going down on Wednesday night. Sure could use a seasoned stripper to intro me into the club. What ya think? John
  20. I think I'm going to try and sneak off Wednesday and do some night fishing. Hope to be down there around 5:00 p.m. for some action before the sun goes down as well. Anyone else going to be there? John
  21. Good lookin keeper there Terry! I agree with arms length and "code browns" (dirty diapers)! That's what memaws and moms are for! Also, I would be remise if I didn't mention something to you. This is coming from a medical professional - SUN SCREEN! Take care of that baby poppa! John
  22. Sounds like you had a good time Ted. Glad to hear it! John
  23. I usually stay at campsite 5. It's the "first come first serve" site. But in the middle of the week you shouldn't have any trouble getting a site. The reservable one's are nice, but 5 is IMO the best. More trees and such. John
  24. Congrats poppa! And Nanna too. She's a doll and trust me, the spoiling part is the best! I've got three granddaughters and one grandson with another (?) on the way. I've told my kids several times that grandkids are my reward from God for letting them live! Glad to hear that you and Nanna are doing good - and the baby too. Congrats again friend and I look forward to more pictures. John
  25. Thanks for the link! Those are some amazing art work. I'll have to stop by and visit the gallery in October when I come down for the conclave. Thanks again Terry. John
