  1. . . . cause I've convinced her that I don't have to outrun the bear . . . I simply have to outrun her! And, I can run faster skeered than mad! John
  2. I must say that I really enjoy my Boca Grip. It's quick and easy and makes returning the fish "all but" harmless. Your right, they are expensive, but this was a splurge from the slush fund that I saved up for. I've not tried any of the others, but I did look at them when I was deciding what type to get. After looking and talking with others that used the Boca I opted for it. And; No, I don't hold nothing against ya wrench for your thoughts. I'm a bit of a gadget guru and enjoy them. John
  3. Gotta work today or I'd be there! Have a great Father's day and catch a big one for me. John
  4. Googled and found this site in Oklahoma. "click here" I think Webber Falls is south of Muskogee close to where it picks up on the interstate. John
  5. Now we know where the "assassin bug" went that Terry found! He sent it to you and has placed a "SPI-der" in your wagon to keep track of your secret fishing spots and methods! The plot thickens! John
  6. Thanks guys! My wife just read this thread and now we won't be doing any camping at Roaring River or Taneycomo Couple years back we were all set to travel Colorado and camp our way around to save money plus have a more "rustic" adventure. That was until she realized there were bears in them there hills! This was AFTER we had packed up all the camping gear into my truck and was half way to Colorado. So we spent the next week staying in motels and having to unload and reload the truck every day. Someone PLEASSSSEEEE say this was just a "joke" so I can convince her it's okay to camp again. John
  7. I'm game! We'll have to see what work is like and if the wife will let me out of the house after being gone to Alaska. But I'm sure a few well placed honey-do's and I'll be able to escape for a day. Let me know when ya figure out a date. John
  8. Hey JC - cute partner; and friendly too. She sure was a sweetie at the get together. See ya soon. John
  9. Bearcat, NONE but I'm seeing some in my future (I HOPE). ONE WEEK and counting! Can't wait. See ya soon. John
  10. Welcome Dave, Glad to hear you had a good trip. This is a great place to visit (and stay awhile.) Alot of good tips and friendly conversation happens here. Again, welcome to the funny farm and I look forward to seeing you in the trophy area next year with a long stick in hand. John
  11. And just who did you sick him on Terry?
  12. Thanks for the update Phil. I'm glad the package made it okay. 7 days and a wake-up; but who's counting! John
  13. I'm good with a donation. Thanks for hosting the swap. John
  14. That'a awesome! I remember when my wife caught her first trout on a fly rod! It was a great experience and I've had a constant fishing partner since. Congrats on the big fish. John
  15. I know what you mean. I havent' been this excited since I was a kid and it was Christmas time. Prior Navy myself, what branch were you with? I'm leaving KC the afternoon of the 22nd and getting into Anchorage in the early AM of the 23rd. Figured I catch some Z's in teh terminal before flying on to King Salmon. I'm taking only fly rods with me. We'll see ya there and have a safe flight. John
  16. Bearcat, don't have much to help but I'm also going up on June 23 to the 30th. Are you fly fishing or spinning? John
  17. Just got home! Ended up being a good day. Shortly after we parted it started to clear up so we headed to the bait store, got some worms for the granddaughter and drowned a couple. Didn't get any takers, but had a good outing. Ate lunch at the floating Cafe and headed back home. Great meeting you guys - we'll have to do it again and this time hopefully mother nature will cooperate. John
  18. "DNR" DO NOT RESUSCITATE! John
  19. Weather.com shows 80% chance for thunderstorms today and the radar looks like it could happen. We're getting ready to head that way from S.E. Kansas. Anyone else still planning on making the trip? Hope the weather holds off. John
  20. You're killing me Phil! Under two weeks now and I don't know if I will survive that long with all your pictures. Save some for me, I'll be there soon! John
  21. I know this sounds funny, but have you tried a "very" light sanding with fine grit paper to see if roughing it up a bit would help the color's to stick? I was afraid the model paint would make it to heavy. John
  22. Wow, if a sharpie won't cover it I'm at a loss! When you say you painted it, did you try model paint? Not sure if that would add too much weight and defeat the purpose though. Let us know how this turns out. John
  23. I think I'll try for a bit earlier. According to mapquest it's about a two hour drive for us (but I don't believe it). We may try to be there by 8 a.m. to get a good day's fishing in. I'll be driving a black Nissan Frontier w/ an OAF sticker on the back bumper. See you guys there. John
