  1. I agree with the seminar. I think it would be very enjoyable and informative. I too, tried my hand at night fishing Sunday night, but did not have the luck you spoke of. Of course, not knowing too much of what to do I didn't stick with it long. I did miss a couple of strikes using a black wooly bugger. From all the post that I have read it sounds like a lot of fun to fish at night. I hope Michael gets the seminar going. I'll be checking back to see if it happens. John
  2. Okay, I've got the big chief pad and a #2 pencil ready. I agree with everything that has been discussed so far. The extra fly's would be nice in case one gets crushed, and an added bonus for the swap meister. I think a self adressed, postage paid, envelope is the best way to go for return mailings. It could solve problems with mixed up addresses. The pictures of the flys are an outstanding idea. I would hope that from this swap will come many others. I've seen them where they are theme based; i.e. wooly bugger swaps, midge swaps, etc. I'm at work right now, and we're planning a two day excursion to Taney tomorrow and Monday. I work again on Tuesday, but Wednesday I can take a picture of the "toe tag" I use and post it if anyone is interested. It's pretty simple and works out real nice. I'll also go back thru the post and develop a set of guidelines that can be pinned if Phil is interested. Until then, take care and have a great (and safe) 4th of July. John
  3. Dano, unless I don't know some particular part of fly swaps we only tie the number of fly's equal to the number of participants. So we only tie 15. Also, I got Rolan's bunch in today. I'll keep everyone posted as they arrive. Peppy is a good looking fly. I bet the trout love this one. John
  4. Checked out the Big Dry. Looks somewhat like a stimulator; but different. I'll have to give it a try. Thanks for the heads up. John
  5. Okay guys, the list is closed! Now it's time to hit the tying table. How does August 1st sound for a deadline to have the fly's to me. I will ship them out by August 8th. The dollar for shipping would be appreciated. 1 - John Jackson; squirrel zonker 2 - Duckydoty; Bunny strip leech 3 - Tim Homesley; Mohair leech 4 - Steve Smith; Golden Crackleback 5 - Don May; Brown Ant 6 - Liley; Primrose and Pearl Zebra 7 - Rolan Duffield; "Peppy" 8 - Matt Keener: Olive Soft Hackle 9 - Luke; Soft Hackle Scud 10 - jOrOb; Disco Bugger 11 - Kicknbass; Crayfish 12 - Dano; Blood Midge 13 - Michael; Brassie Emerger 14 - Matt Rohrer; #8 Prince Nymph 15 - Bear52; "Dead Chicken" (I'm curious about this one)
  6. Update to list: 1 - John Jackson; squirrel zonker 2 - Duckydoty; Bunny strip leech 3 - Tim Homesley; Mohair leech 4 - Steve Smith; Golden Crackleback 5 - Don May; Brown Ant 6 - Liley; Primrose and Pearl Zebra 7 - Rolan Duffield; "Peppy" 8 - Matt Keener: Olive Soft Hackle 9 - Luke; Soft Hackle Scud 10 - jOrOb; Disco Bugger 11 - Kicknbass; Crayfish 12 - Dano; Blood Midge 13 - Michael; Brassie Emerger 14 - 15 - Okay guys we only need two more to finish out the list. Spread the word to your pals. One more housekeeping tidbit to clear up. I'm thinking one month from the close of the list to tie the flys and mail them to me. Does that sound okay with everyone else? Or would more (or less) time be better? You can mail (please use a padded envelop) me your completed flys to: John Jackson, 610 S. Lincoln, Erie, Kansas 66733. Please tag them with your info. Check the earlier post regarding what info is needed. Also, please include your return address so I can mail you your package.. Once I have all the fly's I'll separate them and mail them back to everyone. Also, Rolan has volunteered to take pictures of the fly's and give them to Lilley for possible posting. I think that's a great idea and appreciate the work that this will involve. Take care and tight lines . . .
  7. Mini Jigs - use marabou or hen hackle for the tail and thread for the body. You can also tie a bugger jig with them. Just think wooley bugger with a jig head. Hope this helps.
  8. I agree! I think 25 was reaching a bit. Especially for the first swap. So, if no one has any complaints, lets close it at 15. Dano . . . ?
  9. They are starting a new station for us after the first of the year. We have INSISTED they put in a fishing pond out back.
  10. Excellent video! You're right, now I want to go fishing, but I'm stuck here at work for the next 24 hours. Maybe tomorrow!
  11. A Dano, I grew up in Picher, Oklahoma. Not too far from Baxter. In fact, my mom lives in Baxter now. 40 Years . . . Wow I'm approaching my 30th.

  13. I agree with the others. Another section here would do just fine. Most of us fisher's are also hunters so it wouldn't be a stretch to just add another section. I also agree with fox_76 about the sub-forums. Just my two cents.
  14. Amen God Bless American and our troups that help protect us.
  15. I tried linking to the site from my home computer and got the same error. I then went to the website manually and got the error again. I wonder if the site is experiencing troubles.
  16. Phil, the link is working this morning. It shows the HTTP://, is there something else I need to do? Sorry for the mix up.
  17. Thanks Rolan! I figured once we got closer to the number of tyer's wanted I would have everyone email me their address so I could mail out the flys. I use a blank business card for my fly's. They are just about the right size and stiff enough to hold up. I like the idea of the pictures of the flys. Thanks again.
  18. Here's a link to the Warm Water Fly Tyer that has instructions for a wool head fly. It's not the sculpin but it explains the steps in tying the wool head. Hope this helps. http://www.warmwaterflytyer.com/patterns3.asp?page=2
  19. Had a great time. Really didn't "tear'em up," but caught my fair share. The biggest was a 17" brown that thought he was a whale by the fight. I'll let you know the next time I head that way.
  20. Latest update to the list: 1 - John Jackson; squirrel zonker 2 - Duckydoty; Bunny strip leech 3 - Tim Homesley; Mohair leech 4 - Steve Smith; Golden Crackleback 5 - Don May; Brown Ant 6 - Liley; Primrose and Pearl Zebra 7 - Rolan Duffield; "Peppy"
  21. Leonard, sorry I missed you Saturday night. I fished most of the day and was plum tuckered out. The wife and I went and ate supper and that did me in. I'll keep your number handy and the next time I make it down maybe we can hook up and do some night fishing. Thanks again for the offer to break a greenhorn in.
  22. Welcome Don. Your right, each tyer ties 25 flys and in return will get 25 different flys back. I've added you to the list.

    Fried Fish

Sounds good! I'll have to try it. I didn't know the trick about the potato. Thanks.
  24. Here's the list as of this morning; 1 - John Jackson; squirrel zonker 2 - Duckydoty; Bunny strip leech 3 - Tim Homesley; Mohair leech 4 - Steve Smith; Golden Crackleback
  25. Hey Russ, I'm not sure about your question. But, I just noticed you're from Miami. I'm orginally from Picher. My family still lives there, or at least for the moment they do. I go down there a couple of times a month. Maybe we can meet for some coffee some time.
