  1. Thanks for the report Terry, I too didn't get to make it down this year. Just too many pans in the fire. I am looking forward to the sowbug thought. Hope to make it back soon and fish the great waters of Arkansas. John
  2. Dano - I think you're right. I was leaning that way, but just wasn't sure. MO - you out there? Let us know how it went. John
  3. Amen brother! You know we are all just a phone call away if you need us. I'll keep you and your family in my prayers. John
  4. Nice video and a good story. Thanks for posting it. Didn't we have one of our own at the championship? Seems I remember someone, can't remember the name, that was trying out for Team USA. John
  5. Excellent fish! Thanks for sharing the pictures. I'm on my way! John
  6. Thanks for the info Dano. I've already tied up some green-butts. They were a KILLER at Bennett during the last gathering. I'm anxious to give them a try at Taney. I'll also tie up some of the colors you mentioned. As for fishing them; I found; what worked for me at Bennett was to cast quartering downstream, keep the line tight and let it drift to the point it was straight downstream. Most of the hits came at or very near the end of the drift. And you are right, they were MASSIVE. John
  7. Depending on the day and my work schedule I would be interested. John
  8. Dano, Now, that I've converted and have started using the soft hackle, what would you suggest for Taney? I've tied up some green-butts that did so well at Bennett but would like to have a few other patterns in the box. Thanks ahead of time for the suggestions. John
  9. Finished tying up mine today. I'll have them in the mail tomorrow. John
  10. Mine used to be fishing in Alaska, but thanks to Phil and Jim I accomplished that this summer on the Naknek! MAN - what a trip! I'm not sure now what it would be. Maybe a grandslam fishing trip from coast to coast? John
  11. Hey Leonard - got any fishing reports to share? May be heading that way myself. Trying to decide about the trip. Are you seeing any big browns up yet and how's the fishing been? Thanks buddy. John
  12. Enjoying the reports and the pictures. Be safe and keep the bears at "50 yards." John
  13. Congrats! I'd say you're hooked for sure. Keep it up and you'll need that second, third, fourth . . . job to support the habit. Have a great time! John
  14. Welcome Donna - my wife and I spend a lot of time on the water together. She fly fishes from time to time, but is a great cheerleader for me when she's not fishing. John
  15. Sorry I missed ya! We'll have to make it up another time. John
  16. I'm wanting to make it down but haven't been able to finalize the plans yet. I'll post when I know for sure. John
  17. Happy Birthday guys! John

  20. Terry - have the need to paw at some ground and rub on some trees? John
  21. Now I thought that was a pretty handsome model! This fish that is! I especially like the last touch up - man's that's a big fish! John
  22. I don't think we've set a time or place yet. I just scanned the rest of the post and; unless I missed it which is possible, I can't find where we've talked about that. So, let's get it started. I'll get off work at 8:00 a.m. (as long as there's no early morning calls) so I could be there around 10:30 - 11:00 a.m. I'm open for any meeting place, but since that will be getting close to lunch time what about the restaurant parking lot? Okay, guys, pitch in with your plans. John
  23. Love this time of year! Nothing better than sitting on the front porch with your coffee and watching the day start. Glad it's here and hope it stays for a while. John
  24. Wow! The video says it all. I'd be interested in knowing what WJ thinks about it. John
  25. Have a great time Phil! Wish I was back there with ya. John
