  1. Glad you got it. We should meet sometime and do some tying / fishing. I was hoping to make it to the get-together at Bennett today but forgot about the EMT class I'm teaching starting tonight. Maybe next time. John
  2. Dano, the guys are right, it's pretty tough getting pictures of the light show. I've had my best luck setting my camera on the "sport" mode. The one that will take pictures, one after the other, as long as you hold the button down. In doing this the guessing game gets a bit easier. Try to anticipate and hit the button. Or, once a flash goes off, hit the button and hope another comes along pretty quick. the one draw back is that it drains your memory pretty fast. But, you can delete the blank pictures just about as fast as you get them. John
  3. Don, got the yarn from you today. I've sent you some black and purple. Hope you don't already have them. I've not had a chance to try these but they look good tied up. Thanks John
  4. I'm sorry but I'm going to have to bow out myself. I have a EMT class that I'm teaching and the first class is the night of the 25th. I was trying tofigure out a way to slip over for the day and make it back for the class but it's a 2.5 hour drive for me and I figure I better be at my best for the first night of class. Sorry guys, I would really like to be able to put some faces to the names. Hopefully this is just the first of many such get togethers. John
  5. Dano, good to see ya in. Hope the tests go as you want them. We still need to hook up for some hook-ups at Taney. John
  6. Either way works for me. Another week may get some new takers. It seems we are still gathering some. Maybe another week wouldn't be too bad. But, how's your schedule going to hold out with your tryouts and all? John
  7. Have a great day buddy! Hope you're on the stream and not at work! John
  8. I second that! Have a great birthday Phil. John
  9. Got the PM. I'll give you a call when we get the date set. We picked it because a friend of mine works on the EagleMed helicopter in Arkansas and heard about it from some friends that work there. We've been wanting to branch out with our fly fishing and thought this would be a good place to start. John
  10. Glad to hear it all worked out. How was the fishing? John
  11. Thanks Don! I've got the black and purple. I haven't had a chance to try them yet but the purple looks really good tied up. I've got plenty so if anyone else is interested in swaping colors give me a hollar. John
  12. Hey jOrOb! I've checked every Wal-Mart and yarn store within a 100 mile radious of my home and have not been able to find the green jungle jive color you used for your disco bugger. I've found black and purple (which I quickly bought and tied some up with), but no green, brown or white. Do you have any local suppliers down your way? Or, would you be interested in trading some black and or purple for some of the other colors. I have found a couple of places on the net to order it if it comes to that. Thanks John
  13. Okay, what happened to the rest of the bourbon? Only three tablespoons isn't much from the bottle. Okay, seriously, I'll have to try this receipe. It sounds really good. I've smoked trout with a fish rub I found in a cookbook. John
  14. Thanks motroutbum for hosting this swap. Put me down for the Serendipity. I've never tied this one but have wanted to for some time. It just looks like a great midge pupae fly designed to imitate the transition between the pupae and the adult. John
  15. Thanks. I'll look forward to hearing from you. John
  16. A buddy and mine are planning a one day fly trip to the little Piney for small mouths. I've never fished for them using fly's. Any suggestions as to the fly, places, techniques, etc. would be greatly appreciated. John
  17. Hey russ, it's not the greatest, but it does have a roof. There is a motel on top of the hill next to Tim's Fly Shop. I've stayed there once under similiar circumstances. Just needed a roof. It will do in a pinch. Check it out. I'm sorry but I can't remember the name or give you a number. Maybe Tim can help out. John
  18. I was on my way to NE Oklahoma. We had the funeral services for our 6 year old nephew that was killed in a car wreck. Very mixed feelings for me. The grief of what I was doing, and then the emotions of what had just happened. Being prior military - a good A-- whoopin was in order as far as I was concerned. Worring about what was to come and preparing to keep the family safe quickly took over my thoughts after the funeral. I can remember standing at the grave side and watching jets military jets fly overhead. It was a very eerie feeling. As a side bar; our newest member of the Jackson Clan made her appearance today! Granddaughter #3 is doing well in California with her parents. Kilee Renae Jackson weighted in at 8 lbs 6 oz and measured 19 1/2 inches. Just shy of the upper slot, but I think we'll keep her anyway. John
  19. Way to go Lenoard!

Sounds like a great receipe. I'll have to give it a try. Thanks for sharing. John
  22. It's a type of wooley bugger. You can find pictures and a recipe under the fly swap topic. John
  23. Good looking family Captain! Congrats! He's definately a keeper. John
  24. Congrats, sounds like you had the perfect trip. I've always wanted to go scuba diving myself. Hope you have just as good a trip when you wade fish. John
