  1. I know many people who go up to Caplinger Mill when they are running water, fish for drum and take them home and eat them.
  2. Dutch's comment x2
  3. I kept records of my catches of crappie on Stockton for over 30 years. I day fish only and my average crappie per hour from Apr 1st to October 31st was 30% higher during the 3 days around the dark of the moon compared to the 3 days around the full moon. It did not seem to matter much during the winter months. I always attributed this to the crappie feeding more at night when the moon was full and during the dark of the moon they were less active in order to better protect themselves from predators. Of course this is all subjective.
  4. I would look for standing timber in at least 15' of water.
  5. Hammer Time, may the Lord be with you and your family and comfort you. God bless Thank you Rick E for letting us know. Many of us who have been on here for years feel like everyone here is family.
  6. That picture reminds me of the party cove over by point B9 on Stockton. What a mess.
  7. Unluckily usually nothing. lol
  8. Welcome to the site. Look forward to more reports.
  9. Thanks for the info. My prayers to the family.
  10. Anyone know if they ever found the missing swimmer? It was on the news Saturday.
  11. That was one of my father's favorite tunes. Strange how little things can bring back memories.
  12. But Mike we had tons of rain on Sunday night. Didn't that change things?
  13. Welcome and we look forward to seeing your posts.
  14. Put in at Mutton and motor up to the Big Sac? Whoa, that would take me an hour or more and 3 tanks of gas just to get there. lol To go from Greenfield Landing (CC) to Shaw's bluff takes me 20 minutes or more and by the time I get back I am so low on gas I have to get out and push!!
  15. Thanks hammer. I have a pontoon boat with an extra long trailer (bummer) and have went off the end of the ramp twice when the water was 5' down. A hassle to say the least. Thanks again.
  16. It is my understanding that they only widened the ramp and did not extend it. Does anyone know if that is the truth?
  17. Like above, my wife and I have run into some very dangerous situations on the lake with drunks and other jerks. Use great caution and be prepared.
  18. WOW!! I didn't know. What a terrible loss but he made the world a better place while he was here.
  19. As a biologist I have taken part in way too much speculation like this. It is real confusing. Thank God when genetic testing came out. The only problem is that it was too late for me to tale advantage of. lol
  20. BilletHead, I read every word of your post and sympathize. What an ordeal. At least life isn't boring. I remember about 20 years ago my wife and I went to rent an apartment and of course they did a credit check. We were informed that our request for an apartment was denied because I was dead!! Say what?! Long story short, someone here in Springfield had He ripped over 1,000 people off in 6 states. My number had already been reassigned (which I did not even know they did) to a young lady in Oklahoma. Her and I had to spend thousands of dollars to get it all straightened out. Life is interesting.
  21. The last time I bought shotgun shells at Walmart I had to pick them up at the front of the store when I left.
  22. They didn't know me nor did they ask me any questions. First time in the Gun area. Oh well. I feel better now that I left off some steam.. Thanks for listening.
  23. Just to pass along a related issue. As many of you know my health has been getting worse over the last 5 to 10 years. Currently I suffer from... Non-Alcoholic Fatty Pancreas Atrial tachycardia Atrial Fibrillation Hypertriglyceridemia H2 radiation overexposure Leucopenia Hypothyroidism Enlarged left atrium Hypocalcemia Hypermagnesia and of course because of all this and being a Vietnam Vet I also suffer from Clinical Anxiety. Because of the anxiety issue I can not purchase a weapon. I can assure you that with my health I certainly pose no risk to anyone. lol I am also aware of at least two married women (I am sure ex-wives by now) that were in abusive relationships and because of this they were in therapy for anxiety and even though there had been threats by their husbands (both husbands were under restraining orders) the wives were denied a weapon purchase because of the anxiety they were treated for. Nothing like a battered house wife who can't by a gun for protection. Just venting. .
  24. This happened to us a good 2 or 3 years ago.
  25. They said that the buyer asking questions from the salesman is fine but not any other person in the immediate area during the purchasing process.
