  1. I am having trouble with the MDC fish attractor map. The page loads fine but the map won't load. It just sets there with that crazy spinning circle. Anyone else having problems or is it just due to my expert computer skills.
  2. There are four brush piles that I actually saw put in by the MDC that I regularly fish and only two have signs and none are on the MDC map.
  3. Thanks for the report and welcome to the site!!
  4. I always wished they had a WPA program so they could lay a trail all the way around Stockton. This would give be better access for bank fishing!!! lol
  5. More goodiess on E Coli and N & P on the rivers. Ecoli.xlsx
  6. Some had asked about the values of other parts of the lake so I updated the map with as much info as I have. Hope it helps. np.xlsx
  7. Stock ranches, septic tanks, wastewater discharge from some of the small towns in the watershed and fertilizers used on soy beans, corn, etc. Just to name a few.
  8. Attached a spread sheet on the trend of nitrogen and phosphorus in Stocton over the last 12 years or so. All numbers are from the Corp of Engineers or the Missouri Volunteer Program. np.xlsx
  9. Here is an article about the fact Joplin is considering using Stockton as a wat source. http://articles.ky3.com/2012-01-18/stockton-lake_30641581
  10. I would like to join Strat278 in wishing all a merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!! God Bless All
  11. Thanks for the information LRF. The GMO doesn't worry me too much but the herbicide just isn't my thing. I have been trying to find a co op around Springfield but haven't had any success. A town the size of spfd should have one. I also went to the local farmers markets and asked around but most just looked at me like I was nuts. A lot asked what I would want to eat soy beans for. lol A lot of them didn't know that is where bean sprouts came from!! I will keep digging and will come up with something. Thanks again for the help.
  12. I bet you guys are right about the genetically modified, pesticides, etc. Oh well, it sounded good. lol Yea growing soybeans is easy. We have a sprouter we use for it and they are excellant. We can buy beans from the internet for $5 to 10 a pound which ARE for sprouting BUT only 1/3 to 1/2 sprout and that makes them pretty expensive. I really do appreciate the information guys, Thanks a lot and have a good Christmas.
  13. I know this is a little off the subject of fishing but I thought some of you guys might know a farmer up around Stockton Lake. The wife and I eat a lot of bean sprouts but the seed you but around here in the stores are usually old and don't sprout well. If any of you can put me intouch with someone I would appreciate it.
  14. Well my first trip since August. What a bummer. We caught 5 keeper crappie at 28 to 30' along bluffs. Hawker Point was 50 F with 3 foot clarity. Twin bridges was 49 F with 2' clarity. Greenfield Landing was 43 F with 1 ft clarity.
  15. Maybe it is just me but I have a problem with that. Don't they think the sun shining off the south facing part of the dam would affect the temperature of the top foot or less? Plus with a predominant southerly wind the warmest surface water is going to collect in that area. Plus most of my fish aren't caught in the top 6" to a foot. lol I would rather know the temp 5 or 6 feet down.

    Ramp

Yea, I have had people do that little trick with the hitch too. Now when I hook up the boat to the trailer I put a padluck on it so it can't be flipped up.
  17. I don't know if anyone has noticed the Corp Home page for Stockton Lake but in regards to the shut down it says... "Affected areas will remain closed until after the shutdown is lifted. This includes all of our visitor facilities, campgrounds, boat ramps and similar facilities at all 18 of our lake projects." Just FYI
  18. I would suggest trolling. I use slip bobbers myself and lately very little on brush or standing timber. Most of what I have been catching is at 14 to 18' over deep water (25 to 40 ft). Good luck.
  19. WOW Just noticed that the Corp has really increased the rate of water discharge from the lake. At this rate they should be dropping it at about 2 to 3' per week!!
  20. I gave that a try for a while Dutch. Never did any good there from the rip rap and it was no different this time but I will say one thing...sooooo many small bass. Say 4" or so. Little buggers were so thick. The bad thing was they were tearing the minnows off the hook. Had to move on so I didn't run out of bait. Looks like a good recruitment year for bass though.
  21. Started out today to fish a section of rip rap I had never fished before. Got there and found someone already was fishing there so I set off to another rip rap. Crap!!! Somebody already there too!! So I just sort of buzzed around. CC has cleared a lot. nearly 2' visibility. The green matt of duckweed is still floating around everywhere and a lot of tree limbs floating around. Water still over the ramp and water temp was 77. Also swung by Ruark. That water has lost its green coloration. I would say 2 to 3 foot of visibilty. The water looked real good. Water temp was 83.
  22. The ramp is in good shape but.....it is underwater. The lake is right at the edge of the parking lot.
  23. The wife and I kept it simple today. Fished below one of the main lake bridges with rock rip rap. Caught 7 keeper crappie and 5 keeper channels (all around 2# each). All fish were caught in the morning at about 14 feet deep in 20' of water. Couldn't buy a bite after lunch. Wasn't too bad for just setting around in the shade of a bridge.

    Jugging

Yea, nothing new there. I use pool noodles to jug a few times each summer. We put them out and then fish close by so we can keep an eye on them. Many times boats come by and try to pick up our pool noodles. They always have the same answer. "Oh we thought they we abandoned." That is just the way people are I guess. I stopped trying to understand them years ago.
  25. Thanks for the heads up Zara. I use that data a lot.
