    If anyone who coon hunts regularly cannot tell the difference between coon eyes and cat eyes they need to lay off the busch lite. I have never hunted coons but I can easily tell the difference.

    I would rather poor people shoot a doe every now and then rather than live off welfare. I live in the ideal deer environment apparently because they are everywhere. They are overpopulated even with hunting regs.

    I am going to use gluv-it on my boat this spring. Before the buffalo starts warming up.

    I don't like the idea of stocking anything myself. I think the rivers should have natural fish or at least self sustaining populations.

    Ben Franklin wanted our national bird to be the wild turkey. I think it would have been a much better choice.

    You can have digital scales certified. Get some certified then take pics of both sides and measure the length and girth then return it to the water. I dont want to kill a fish for other people to know I have caught it. As a teenager I caught a 8lb largemouth on lake conroe(certified scales) and a 10lb largemouth on Gibbons creek(cert. scales) and I returned both of the fish.

    I suggest coating the underside of your aluminum boat with gluv-it so it will glide over rocks better. Last summer during a short stint of higher flows I saw 3 people go from snow to yellville with a shawnee/9.9

    With the buffalo this low the only way to get far up is paddle a canoe up it.

    They are best seen at poling places on election day. Sounds like your locals are just like mine. Maybe because you only live 30 miles from me.

    that most definetly is not a mountain lion, since they are more of a tan color my vote is for black panther if its not a big tomcat.

    I talk to Jimmy walker every time I rent from him(you have no choice in the matter), and he always says that the people who rent from him are sportfishermen, they never keep any. I imagine most people who fish CC do it for the fun of it, but I could be wrong. A friend of mine caught and kept a 24" smallie from the mouth of the buffalo this summer

    The owner of lindsey is very nice and that is a nice stretch of river to fish. However that is a long haul from the buffalo.

    Where were you able to go on NFoW? There are plenty of places where canoes drag. From what I hear the fiberglass boats are very tough, but almost every boat I have seen on the river has a 9.9 or 15hp, not a jet. Every jet boat I have seen has been aluminum, there has to be a reason for it.

    I happily use a wood stove, it saves me money and the environment. The government deemed that using wood to heat with is carbon nuetral.

    check out http://www.rileysstation.com/ the owners are very friendly(as are their kids) and they are right at the mouth of the buffalo. I believe that they have cheap rental rates and they have nice boats too. I borrowed their 48" JS boat and it was very nice. You wont be able to go very far up the buffalo right now so be aware.

    A guy came into the shop today for some repairs and we got to talking about things and I told him that I liked fishing CC. He said the fishing isnt near as good as it was 30 years ago, then told me about going on trips and having stringers held up by 3 people full of smallmouth and frogs. He said now you would be lucky to catch 2-3 good fish. I told him that smallmouth have a slow growth rate and over harvesting have cut down on trophy fish.

    As much as it shocks me, I totally agree with this statement and add to it that if you kill something you EAT it(ted nugent philosophy). We have coyotes all around my house and mountain lions have been spotted in the area. We have raised cattle, hogs, goats, and chickens without losing any animals to them. A cow will put up a hell of a fight against anything between them and their calf.
