  1. Yesterday my buddy and I went out to the pond and I wanted to try out a swimjig/shad body trailer. At first the fishing was fair(caught about 10 bass) but when I retied after losing the first one I went to a all white jig and started tearing them up. Caught 5 bass in the first 6 casts. I cant wait to try it on the river.
  2. I wanted to wade up blue springs but my buddy was ready to go.
  3. Pyatt down to snow will be incredibly tough until we get some regular rain.
  4. Where do the smallies go? Does the clear water make them lay down in the bottom of the deep holes? We hardly saw many fish.
  5. The only place I will have an issue with shuttling is on the southfork river but since it is so close to town I am not too concerned about it. I have someone who shuttles on the eleven point for cheap. Jimmy walker charges $15 on crooked creek so thats not bad at all. I am hoping this yak will allow me to explore places I might not be able to go with the canoe. I intend to wear some waders when the water gets cold. I have a solo canoe at a neighbors house(as long as his dope-head son hasn't sold it) that I want to try too this winter. The store hasn't been open for just a couple months. Turn south off 63 at Casey's, then take the first left(right after pizza inn), and it is about 1/4 mile down the road on the left(right next to dollar general).
  6. A buddy and I from work took the riverboat from riverton to the narrows yesterday and the fishing was rough. Biggest fish of the day wasn't over 14" and it was a largemouth. Probably caught ten the whole float(we fished from 7-2). The highlight of the day was my buddies one and only fish, a chain pickerel. He handed it to me and I told him "don't get your hand in his mouth, he has some gnarly teeth". No sooner had I said that then the fish clamped down on my thumb. Those teeth are incredibly sharp!! The fishing sucked but the scenery was beyond great. Leaves were turning and the water was crystal clear(very likely why we weren't catching much)
  7. I am so excited I cannot stand it. I cannot wait to use my new 'yak. I bought it at the bass pro return store in thayer, mo yesterday. I got it for $250($480 retail). I intend to take it out this weekend for a trial run.
  8. I caught a 17" brown on my ultralite sunday evening at wildcat, that was the best fish of the evening for us.
  9. Shad were moving in big creek last week. They were EVERYWHERE.
  10. thats what I would use. They have been using it on airboats in Florida for 30 years. I am going to do it to two of my boatsthis winter.
  11. My wife and I went from riverton to myrtle in mid-august and we caught quite a few fish.
  12. I think the wife and I are going to take the riverboat down from Riverton to myrtle again next weekend. Smallmouth should be hitting.
  13. very likely they were a guide. Guides on the white can be jerks sometimes.
  14. Its not where they are from, dumbasses live everywhere. Your from out of state too buddy.
  15. Unfortunetly I have no good local options. Harps has about the same amount of stuff as wal-mart and Cranfield junction is NEVER open.
  16. If I am in the canoe and we are floating down a riffle I will drop my paddle in an instant and pick up a rod if I can make a cast where I think a fish is. I have had great luck doing that too
  17. not gonna make it, hopefully I can make the spring float.
  18. Next to Bass Pro, Academy is my favorite place to buy tackle. Gander mountain has squat compared to Academy. I have been a big fan of the H20 lures especially because of the price.
  19. a long cast for you isn't the same as a long cast for me
  20. When we rented from him we couldnt get away. He followed us down the boat ramp and was talking when we were leaving. Really nice guy though.
  21. chances are I will not be able to go but I am still going to try.
  22. enjoy the float, be prepared to drag.
  23. If someone is crowding me unnecessarily I will definitely tell someone.
  24. I usually keep whatever rod I am not using directly behind me in the buffalo but the last trip I started putting them on top of the crossmembers of my canoe. I have a rod holder zip tied to the crossmember in front of my seat(rear) but only use them when we are in serious rapids.
