  2. Crooked creek would be a perfect float. There is generaly very little pressure. My wife and I floated from Georges creek to the slab last labor day(on labor day) and saw absolutely no one...and it was awesome. Last august we floated from Rush to shipps ferry which is about 25 miles of Buffalo river then 3-5 miles on the white. We saw one boat the whole trip.
  3. man that sounds complicated, climbing over the cab! I have a crew cab long wheelbase truck and I have yet to get my feet wet launching. If I am by myself with my big boat(16x48 jon with a 50hp) I attach the rope to it. I keep a rope tied to the back roller of the trailer all the time and have it strung up to the front. if I fish by myself I hook the rope to the front of the boat, back it into the water with enough force to get the boat floating away from the trailer, then **gently** drive forward to pull the boat to the bank. easy cheesy lemon squeezy. btw, when you load the boat back up you dont need the trailer as far in the water as you do launching.
  4. got a new(to me) riverboat, selling my old one: http://littlerock.craigslist.org/boa/1727609226.html
  5. where bouts in texas do you live?
  6. no females then.
  7. I put in from rim shoals and went to crooked creek thursday. I caught a bunch of trout just before dawn at the mouth on crankbaits and at about 9am started catching fish. I caught a 14" smallie, 12" smallie, 14" largemouth, a few perch, and a crappie! had a great time.
  8. I caught quite a few trout on crankbaits yesterday in crooked creek do y'all do half day trips during the week? I work second shift at Eaton and we are working six and seven days a week. pm me a half day price if you don't want to post it
  9. how big were they?
  10. I wanna see a pic of the old slab to see if its wide enough for my riverboat
  11. we caught about 60 in a creek on norfork this morning, the biggest being 16.25". If its not raining tomorrow morning ill be back out.
  12. a guy at works told me last night they have been catching them off bidwell point with big jerkbaits at night. My uncle is going out with binks in a couple weeks and I may go.
  13. those are the biggest of the 6 I caught.this morning. I only got a couple.of.hours in before I had to go to work. gone a go at first light tomorrow.
  14. That's good. You couldn't drag me out on that river with thunderstorms in the forecast. Last week the river went from 3.5' in the morning to 12' by afternoon
  15. I'll pass. Good luck on the trip and I hope everyone makes it out ok
  16. Nope, never heard of them. Hope they are prepared for heavy rain and thunderstorms
  17. Sounds like fun....but it's going to storm Friday night and Saturday. I hope you are prepared I like how you "allow" catch and release on a river you don't own
  18. Are you wanting to drag it or sit still? That will make a huge difference. On the white most people just use a piece of railroad rail for an anchor. I built a drag anchor for my big boat out of grader blade which works great
  19. Thanks for the info. I think we will fish norfork in the morning and maybe rim shoals/crooked creek Wednesday.
  20. Anyone been out lately?
  21. My neighbor and I are going tomorrow and I was wondering what the water looks like
  22. I bet a trout of the same size would fight equally well or better
  23. I had a bunch of crawfish and small perch in the aquarium with the turtle but they have all disappeared
  24. My neighbor and I went fishing today on the Norfork river, they were running 1 generator the whole time. We first fished below the shoals below the handicapped access. On my first three casts I caught three species of trout (brown-cutthroat-rainbow). I caught the majority of my fish on a triple olive 1/16" zigjig, but caught a 18" brown on a H20 express rainbow trout jointed swimbait(also on the first cast). My neighbor caught quite a few small browns on dead shad and a really nice 16" rainbow. All in all we had a great day.
