  1. i always park at the riley's
  2. If you start at the upstream side of the mouth and paddle hard directly across the river there is a chute you can take over. With very low water you may have to portage a bit.
  3. these. you will always catch fish on these. Winter, summer, rain, freezing cold, 100 degrees it dont matter
  4. Riley's station is directly across from the mouth, on the other side of the island.
  5. entertaining any trades?
  6. I am contemplating turning the nose up ever so slightly and adding a very slight v to the front 1/2 of the boat. nothing drastic, 6 degrees or so. My propulsion will likely be my trusty 9.9 mariner or 25hp merc with a jet pump. I want to keep it as light as possible but still keep it stout.
  7. I want to build my own fiberglass riverboat. I have some experience fiberglassing and love building stuff, regardless if its cheaper. My thoughts are 21'x48"x18". I am kicking around the idea of a self bailing deck but I dont know, that would raise the deck quite a bit. I am thinking of making it a partial tunnel hull(3-4" deep, 3ft long). 4-5ft front deck, 3ft rear deck.
  8. I am picking up a couple tomorrow, interested in trying it out.
  9. Why cotter in particular? If norfork is generating I personally would rather fish there. Wildcat shoals is a great place to launch and fish. I like to go upstream to the narrows on low flows, and down into the shoals.
  10. a hovercraft....that would be neat. I usually fish the confluence when norfork isnt generating. We did real good sunday.
  11. norfork has the same "problem" with shad. When the white bass run you will see shad as big as a white bass! I wonder what they taste like...
  12. I am not big on dragging my aluminum boat over rocks. Maybe when it warms up I will try it in my canoe.
  13. can you even take a boat down norfork river when they arent generating?
  14. As a courtesy I slow down to below wake speed when I pass people on norfork because of the tight confines, people hardly do that for me though. Usually it is the yankee tourists that do it but plenty of locals do it too, and that really ticks me off.
  15. waders, hell, rubber boots will do you just fine if your not careful.
  16. norfork will drop really fast. If your fishing by the dam be mindful because if the water drops off you cant get back down the shoal.
  17. when is the best to jerkbait for browns? Generally whenever you go. I ALWAYS have one tied on, ALWAYS. lately a cd-7 black/silver has been doing great. My problem is not knowing where to find big browns. I havent caught a keeper(24") brown yet, so far the biggest I have caught is 18" or so. I like throwing jerkbaits all the time.
  18. IMO norfork isnt worth it at 6000cfs
  19. rileys is certainly where I would choose to take out.
  20. IF your setup right and quick with your wits you can fish any shoal you want by yourself on the white. Norfork is a different animal. Anything above 1 unit gets scary quick and IMO not worth the risk to fish. I have my trolling motor on my front deck and it is handy when fishing by myself.
  21. That is pretty neat. I wish I had time to build one. I am kicking the idea around of making my own fiberglass riverboat though.
  22. all these are great but 3 is the biggest one. It pisses me off when people do this and they do it all the time, guides are the worst. I had never seen anything like it until I started fishing the white/norfork.
  23. The navionics apps are top notch. I have the lakes south version. I also use Trimble outdoors which is actually far more usefull to me because it will save maps in a cache.
  24. Always, Always, ALWAYS be aware of what is sitting downstream of you. When fishing low water your boat will sometimes drift so slowly that rocks will sneak up on you. Be aware that even with a jet there are places you cannot go with no generation. I really like buffalo city and norfork for low water fishing. The ramps upstream from cotter seem to be way too flat for my tastes. When the water is low I really like using countdowns and other jerkbaits. If I am not using them then I use zigjigs religously. *edit* If you fish norfork river while generating be VERY careful because it moves far faster than the white. And if you use a drift anchor keep a knife handy at all times. I nearly sunk a boat with a drift anchor and now I just use a trolling motor to slow down my drift.
  25. If I remember correctly BS recently posted a state record striper for MO. Why is your bass fishing worth more than someone else's striper fishing?
