  1. I dont believe the johnny morris reels fall under that category.
  2. they just dont carry them. I have heard they are going out of business but their website is still up.
  3. which bps reels are you talking about? I caught a 8lb bass on the first one I bought(which was used) and it handled that bass just fine.
  4. with the way riverboats are designed around here, they dont really plane out. all I need is a reliable way to propel the boat in a few inches of water. There haven't been any jets that small because no one has tried.
  5. I have 4 johnny morris signature series reels from BPS and IMO they cannot be beat for the money. 10 ball bearings, excellent magnetic drag and a very good feel. I have three different speeds: 5.4:1, 6.3:1, and 7.1:1. Just bought the 5.4:1 sunday for a jigging reel. $130 with tax.
  6. your absolutely right, they do not exist at the moment. I plan to build or modify one to fit my 9.9 and then boost my power to 15hp. with the 40% loss of power with a jet unit I will be looking at less than 10hp. That is the goal anyways. IMO the hp restriction on the buffalo is useless. Only a fool would run a boat at high speeds on that river. BTW it is not uncommon to see game wardens with 60hp jets flying up the river
  7. I always have my wife with me when I go to BPS. I found another downside to having the biggest bass fishing store close by: There is no bigger place to go. When I was a teenager and fishing I always wanted to go to BPS but there wasn't one within 6hrs of me so I never went. I do wish they carried bagley crankbaits in springfield.
  8. I think my wife would leave me if I did that. I almost did yesterday. I wanted a revo winch BAD but she would have had a breakdown if I would have bought a $200 reel.
  9. Why cant I leave there without spending $100? I live 3hrs away but I wish it was further. This morning I was bass fishing on the white river when my pflueger cetina took a dump on me so we(I) decided to go to springfield. I returned the reel to BPS and upgraded to a 5.4:1 Johnny morris reel. I have been extremely happy with the three others that I have(all bought used) and cannot wait to get my new jig reel spooled up and in the boat. After returning and buying the reel we(I) walked around and found some stuff I know I needed. The thing that sucks is now I cannot go fishing until next weekend!
  10. where is randolph county? I live 30 miles east of mountain home. send me some pics.
  11. If your dead set on fishing that area I would hit up bryant creek. I have heard good things. I personally would float from pyatt to the slab for a 3 day float and just go slow. either that or float rush to buffalo city.
  12. you will find that on ozark rivers jet boats have completely flat bottoms and are very wide. I have a 18x36 riverboat that I want to make into a jet boat for the buffalo because there are lots of places where the river gets narrow. IMO you should take them all for test drives to see what you like.
  13. while we are on the subject, does anyone know of a crankbait that has a good molting crawfish look? last weekend when we floated the north fork I saw a crawfish that had just molted and it was a peculiar color.
  14. so far on crooked creek and the white river have been kind to medium crankbaits. I like medium divers because they more resemble a crawfish when they root around. I have caught probably two dozen fish on a single wiggle wart without having to tune it or anything.
  15. www.zigjig.com have worked in the past for me. I bought some www.flatheadjigs.com and I am going to try them out this weekend. They are quite a bit cheaper but there are not as many colors.
  16. I bought it at Shaver's plumbing in salem. I have two, they are only like $7 each. I dont know why people think they need small lures on rivers either. I would not say I sacrificed numbers for larger fish. I was very happy with the amount of fish I caught.
  17. I only lost one fish all day. One guy who was wading in the river said when I showed him my lure "man that is big". I thought that was weird...I was bass fishing with a bass lure. My hat aint for sale.
  18. I dont know why, I am the one wearing the rice hat
  19. I dont know about the steel leader....clear water would be rough with a leader that sticks out like that. At a cost of $4 I am not too concerned about losing one or two, however I have gotten it unhung every time so far.
  20. I bought this wiggle wart and have fished it for two days of fishing and have ABUSED this lure and I havent had to tune it or anything. I got in hung up a bunch and tossed it in trees.
  21. below the slab there would definitely be some dragging involved.
  22. I for one hope they NEVER get rid of the slab. As spiderman said,we did not see any largemouth, carp, or goggleye for that matter above the slab. To be honest, we could have taken the canoe directly over the slab, after we carried it across we noticed that it was not as rough as some of the rapids upstream were. Give me a shout if you have any questions about anything. If it were me and I was doing a all day float I would go snow to the slab.
  23. nice pics, that last photo is of a goggleye or rock bass.
  24. thats what I use to make leaders. so far it has worked good.
