Got on the water at noon and fished close to the dam. Spent quite a bit of time back in Orleans Trail cove. Water temp was 47 to 48 degrees. Amazing the temp differences between the dam area and what Straw Hat is reporting up the lake. Caught 13 bass and one walleye, all on a Megabass 110. They sure seemed to be pretty shallow. I probably missed at least 10 where they would hit it and I would sweep the hook and the rod would load up and then they would just pull free. All of them were 14 to 14 3/4. The walleye was nice, around 17 inches.Had my best luck on main lake points.

Started fishing around 2:30 p.m. There was cloud cover and a slight wind when I started. Later the clouds broke up a little bit and by the time I got off the water at sunset, it had cleared off. Caught 25 fish with 5 being white bass, and everything else either largemouth or smallmouth. Caught a 4 lb. black and 2 others that went 15 inches. Caught everything on a Zell Pop. Water temp was 71 degrees. Fished from the dam to the two isalnds where the Big Sac and Little Sac part. Got most of my bites on big chunk rock and boulders. If there was some brush around or a stump, it made it all the better. The shad were on the surface all over the lake. Saw the white bass working them over on several ocassions. Saw my first bald eagle of the fall. Also saw a flock of snow geese migrating south. As high as they were, they probably needed oxygen masks. Seeing them headed south makes me wonder if cold weather is going to be here very soon. Hope not.

A Zell Pop is a higher end version of a Pop-R. Costs $10. It is an Xcaliber bait I picked up at Bass pro. I would like to find a Yellow Magic, but Bass Pro doesn't sell them and I don't know if anyone in the KC area sells them. I didn't spend much time experimenting with other baits. I'm hard headed that way. I just love fishing topwater and was doing OK even though they were short fish.

Got on the water around 9:00 a.m. and fished until 4:00 p.m. in the dam area. Mainly fished the main lake points. Went back into some of the larger coves, but didn't seem to be many fish back there. Caught around 30 bass with all but 2 coming on a Zell Pop. Had some pretty vicious strikes. All of them had the dreaded eye tail disease, but several of them were over 14 inches and gave a pretty good fight. Caught all 3 species, largemouth, smallmouth, and kentucky. Water temp was 70 degrees. All in all a really beautiful day.

Thanks for all of the great info. I decided to go with Cara T7 Finesse Jig rod, 6' 10" MH. I tend to fish the smaller stuff and I don't even own a jig bigger than 1/2 oz. I mainly fish Stockton in the clear water around the dam. Found a place online with a price of $179.99 with free shipping.

I went to Bass Pro in Independence and all they had on the rack were the LowRider series. I was really impressed by the weight and feel of the LowRider. Looking at the catalog, there are the BuCoo, Micro, Reaction, Peacock, and Trigger. Could somebody familiar with Falcon break down the differences. I am interested in picking one up (I can only afford one at this time) but not sure which. I would prefer a medium heavy action in 6'6" or 7'. The LowRider is cheaper, but the price of the Micro doesn't scare me away. Any advice would be appreciated. Brad

Nice report. Busy weekend on the lake and you still caught quite a few fish. I really like the hat your wearing. EMAW!

Jacob: Thank you so much. I followed your directions and it was very easy. Thanks for all of your hard work to figure it out. I drive a white and red Skeeter and I mainly fish Stockton and spend most of my time in the dam area. I venture as far as the Mutton Creek/Googer Creek area sometimes. So if you see a white and red Skeeter with a 150 4 stroke, that's probably me. Stop me and we can compare our units to see if yours is working properly. Brad

Anybody know if there is a conversion program for Lowrance to import the MDC waypoints? I have the HDS 7.

Is the 934+ a new lake level record?

I'm no fishing guru, but if it was me I would go bass fishing back into one of the larger coves like Googer Creek and wacky rig a green pumpkin senko. Pitch it up towards and around the flooded bushes and twitch it back. I would concentrate on the secondary points. Sounds like Friday might be cloudy which would really help that type of fishing. That wacky rigged senko is pretty simple and if you keep it fairly colse to the surface then you will see the bass strike it which is always a rush for me.

Fished around Long Shoal from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. when a storm chased me off the lake. Found crappie in the flooded bushes. Brought home 14 that went between 9 1/2 to 11 iches long. Mostly males. The 2 or 3 females looked like they had already spawned because there weren't much for eggs in them. Caught them all on jigs. Main color was purple & chartruese. Water temp was 73 degrees.

Do you know what the water temperature was? And did the females still have eggs? Thanks for the report.

Put in at Brown Bend and went 2 miles down stream into a big cove on the south side. Found the crappie shallow. Brought home 15 for a hot oil bath. I probably caught between 75 and 100 fish. Most were too small though. What I did bring home were all 10 inchers and above. Mostly males but I did have 5 or 6 females that still ahd eggs. Caught them on a 1/16th oz. white maribou jig under a bobber (18 inches to 2 feet). Also caught some on a bright yellow and white grub with a pink head (also 1/16th oz.) I also caught 2 small walleye, and probably 15 bass. I had one on that would have gone around 4 lbs. I was pitching my jig and bobber up under the catwalk of a dock. It pulled free but I doubt I would have landed it anyway becasue I would have had toget it over some dock cables and I was using an ultra light rod with 4 lb. test. It was fun while it lasted! Water temp was 61 to 64 degrees. Dogwoods were in full bloom.

The biggest was caught on a black & blue Eakins jig with a blue paca chunk. The other was on a white and chartreuse spinner bait.

Put in at Long Shoal and went up the Big Tebo. Fished 2 coves on the south side and 2 on the north. Water was 57 to 58 degrees for the most part. Did find some around 60 but it was way back in the back ends. We caught around 25 bass. 5 were keepers and one went around 5 pounds. Caught them on a square bill, spinner bait, and a black & blue jig & craw. Most of the fish were half way back in the coves. Really shallow too. Seeemed like it had to be a bank that some rock on it and when you were a cast away from the bank that the boat would be in 10 to 12 feet of water. Here is a picture of one of the biggest.

I was in Googer Creek today and the water had more color. Probably 1 1/2 to 2 foot clarity so that is dingier than normal for that area. Lots off trash and sticks floating all over the lake. Water temp was 47 degrees. Fishing was tough for me. I caught 10 bass but really had to work for them. Bites were few and far between. Caught everything on a stickbait.

I think I set a new personal record, and not necessarily a good one. This was my first trip out since the beginning of December, 2010. I don't think I have ever gone this long without fishing. I can't let this happen again! I put in at Orleans Trail Marina around 1:15 p.m.. Never put the boat on plane. Went to the south side by the no wake buoys and worked my way toward the back end. Caught a 14 inch bass on my first cast. Caught it on a Megabass 110. Proceeded down that bank and caught 14. My 15th fish was a crappie. Next cast another crappie. Third cast a third crappie. The graph was lit up with fish. I was in about 18 feet of water. I switched to an 1/16th oz. white grub. I caught around 25 crappie and I brought home a limit of 10 1/2 to 11 1/2 inch crappie, and 2 walleye. They finally slowed so I went back to bass fishing and caught another 15 or so before I quit for the day around 4:45 p.m. The old saying is, "wind from the east, fish bite the least". Well, not today. Only one keeper bass and it went 16 inches. Water temp was around 44.5 degrees.

I have 3 Megabass colors. KBG, Pro Blue, and Triple Illusion. I've caught more fish on the KBG, but the last time I was out, the Triple Illusion out produced. I just keep rotating until I get a sense of what the fish want. Haven't had any trouble with the lures themselves. I tend to be "hard headed" and maybe Lucky Craft or McSticks are just as good, but I am going to go with the one who brung me. I like the way a Megabass throws, and I have had good success with them.

This report is too late since you were going to go today, but I went out Friday, 12/10, and ended up catching 17 fish on a Megabass 110. 3 of the 17 were walleye and the rest bass. Biggest bass went 4 lbs that I caught in Googer Creek. I put in at Orleans Trail and went up the Big Sac as far as Googer. I targeted 45 degree angle banks with chunk rock. Overall the bite was pretty slow and either most were suffering from lock jaw or the fish are scattered out. You didn't catch multiple fish in the same location. Water temp was 47.5 to 48.5 degrees.

On Saturday, Nov. 20, I was in the dam area and found water temps between 55.5 and 57 degrees.
