Hey Mike... I was wondering who's tent that actually was in the picture... I KNOW Don didn't take the time to set one up...

It's a cheap $50 Walmart tent. It has integrated poles and sets up amazingly fast. The rainfly is the hardest part. However it's not a strong tent in very windy conditions. The kids were in the big tent or I would have used it instead.

Don't let Don fool you guys.......when I went camping with him, he slept in the van all night with the a/c running!!!

When I camped with Mike, he stood there with his hands on his hips and boldly exclaimed, "We don't need no stinking tent!" then he spit on the ground. I think he was fishing all night long :blur:

Nice pic! I love the tent camping. The wife and I just bought us a new tent last year and have retired the slide-in cab over until the colder weather hits. We use the Coleman roll-out sleeping mats and get a good nights rest. They are only about an inch thick but feel like six! Of course, the back is still okay with me but I know my days coming. Sue, my wife, works at Nu-Wa in Chanute and I keep telling her she needs to tell them to keep her check and just give us one of those! :)

Dano - try the rollout mat, they really do work!

John,

I plan to take several days to float and camp the 11 pt in a couple of weeks. For the first time, I'm going to have to scale down my camping gear to accomodate gravel bar camping for a few nights. I plan to pick up a Coleman mat as you described. Feedback afterwards. Thanks for the good advice.

We camp several times every fall down at Quarry. Best sleep I get all year. One of those big air mattreses and cold nights, man it doesn't get better than that. Oh, I also use an electric heater. A big gatorade jug is nice too ;) .

You couldn't get me to go in the summer though. Unless somebody comes out with central air conditioning for a tent.

Believe it or not, they make an AC for tents! It sets on top of an cooler full of ice and draws the cold air from there. Then blows the air via a small fan across the tent. The literature claims it works very well. Haven't seen one in action or talked with anyone that uses one. Just came across it surfing the net one time.

Really nice pic. It makes me want to go camping. We may go in June if it's not too hot.
