Chief Grey Bear Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 Hey Chief, You would like my rig with its '61 evinrude! I'm sure I would. How about I come down there and you take me out in it. Can you make an exception and do a little fishing on a Sat or Sun? Didn't you say that it was an 18hp? Dad had an ol Crosby Sled that had an 18hp Evinrude. The he put a new 65 Merc on with stick steering. Boy the looks he got from the go fast crowd when we would go sailing by. Trav Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 After Labor Day and before memorial day I have been known to make exceptions on my weekend boycott. Usually for tourist relatives. 18 stubborn mules, haha. Everyone of them as reliable as the lake is wet. I have an '83 seanymph keeping them from sinking. Chief Grey Bear Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 So you are willing to adopt me on a temporary basis some weekend? taxidermist Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 Idle speed, to most that means a wake 2 feet tall. Maybe its time for a speed limit too. When we fish Taney its in a Lowe 170 with a 90Hp johnson and sometimes I feel like we are in a rubber raft the way we get rocked and have taken water over the sides from those huge bass boats throwing large wakes. Even cost me a propshaft at the launch ramp and a new prop. There is not excuse for rude behavior on the lake.
Trav Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 Chief, Haha, I dont think I want the responsibility to adopt you. But you can Adopt me! Taxi, Smokey, Down here on the lower, boat traffic changes the bite drastically. I wont trout fish at all if I see more than two boats within eyeshot. Luckily I am more of a bass fishermen. They arent as spooky as the brownies. I am guessing that the bows on the upper dont care, for they can be caught with 30 boats over thier heads. I catch bows but I rarely focus for them. Most I catch are totally incidental. "May success follow your every cast." - Trav P. Johnson
crappiefisherman Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 what with the high water and fast boat traffic in front of the marina at bass pro, I got seasick yesterday.I have been working the marina on wednesdays for a bit and early in morning I thoguht I was getting dizzy and falling down because of low blood sugar but I was relieved to see the minnow buckets and lights swinging above my head........................chuckle, chuckle [ [
MOBass Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 Water Patrol made the right decision on this. It will also protect the launch ramp by the campground and make it easier to load and un load. I wonder if they will do the same in front of the marinas at either end of the landing.
Chief Grey Bear Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Chief, Haha, I dont think I want the responsibility to adopt you. But you can Adopt me! Sure, I'll adopt you for a weekend of fishing. Members jlpatton1 Posted March 7, 2008 Author Members Posted March 7, 2008 Lots of good feedback, and I think the main thing everyone would love to see is respect for one another while on the lake. As to the question about bouy placements for the other marinas, As if December, they are not accepting any buoy permit applications for a year while they study the program. So we had to get this in by then or would have had to wait over a year..and by then the rules could be different.... Thanks for all the replies, let's be safe and have fun fishing. Amish Bill Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 I've never had a boat on Taney but from what I've seen it's pretty narrow so I don't see a big need for speed. I have fished the White quite a bit and do enjoy the tranquility of floating with the current, just enough motor to get back, all you need. Now to step on toes. with what I've read as my only source of information, It wouldn't bother me to put a motor resriction, or probably better a speed limit. That should be fairly easy to enforce since the lake is pretty small and there are several dock and resort owners that could report the problem makers. Sorry in advance, just my idea.
