Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted March 8, 2008 Root Admin Posted March 8, 2008 I would think the agency's mindset would be this: if it's not broke, don't fix it. Taneycomo, although narrow and heavily traveled, has not had any serious boating accidents in recent history. On the other hand, Table Rock and Lake of the Ozarks, on these lakes every season people are killed in boating accidents. Those lakes are where most if not all the patrolling needs to be done to try to enforce the laws on the books to try to lower the numbers of accidents. Taney has virtually zero accidents and no deaths due to boating accidents. Now- if that changes... yes they will try to fix it by making new rules. But until then, they won't change a thing.
Trav Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 Still, would be nice to see someone checking licenses, stamps, and creels down here on the Lower. "May success follow your every cast." - Trav P. Johnson
Members tarpon14 Posted March 8, 2008 Members Posted March 8, 2008 MWP doesn't patrol Taney much simply because there are few serious incidents on our lake compared to Table Rock. If they did patrol Taney more you'd see a decline in these infractions. Education, enforcement and consequences are the keys. There's very little of any I'm afraid.
Members tarpon14 Posted March 8, 2008 Members Posted March 8, 2008 Hey, Perchjerker - what's crazy about the kayakers (of which I sometimes am, but hardly ever on Taney anymore...)? I do miss "surfing" on the wake the big boats leave down there. Don't miss trying to tie on while the bass boats fly by. One thing about the kayaks, they're a heck of a lot more quiet and less smelly than you outboard guys!
Trav Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 Cheif I dont get off the Lower too often. Was reffering to you adopting me down here. Haha I can see the misunderstanding. "May success follow your every cast." - Trav P. Johnson
