Seth Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 Do you have to wrap thread below the rod tip? If so, should I do that before or after I glue in the rod tip? My last question is, will Power Bond work for installing the rod tip? I use Power Bond for installing inserts into my carbon arrows and it seems to hold really well for my arrows. Thanks, Seth
Dutch Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 I am not sure what that is but the old fletching glue works just fine. You just put some in the tip and a little on the rod and slide them together, wipe off the excess and you are done.
flyfshn Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 Seth, I am by no means an expert, but the guy that taught our class, had us use 5 minute epoxy and suggested not wrapping below the rod tip in case you ever have to replace it Fish On! Seth Posted March 5, 2008 Author Posted March 5, 2008 Well I forgot that I had bought some 5 minute epoxy a while back just for replacing rod tips if I needed too so I will just use the 5 minute epoxy. This is going to be done to a beat up surf rod that I use for snagging so I'm not worried about looks so I'll just leave the thread be then. I was just curious if it served a purpose other than for looks.
Rolan Duffield Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 I agree with flyfishn as to the method for replacing a rod tip. I prefer the epoxy over the regular rod tip cement. Rolan
