mclothier1 Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Ive heard that the biggest side effect from Chantix is the strange dreams, A buddy at work recently used Chantix and he reported having some pretty strange dreams. My wife is currently taking it, but she hasnt said anything about it so far Im also a lifelong Skoal user...since I was 13, wondering if Chantix would help me quit?? I quit for a year one time with using the Nicorette gum, worked till someone handed me a can, and then it was "on" again....
soggyfeet Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 I was takeing it but didnt care for the nausa and the dreams so I quit. I also got sick while takeing it so that didnt help much. Now Im just slowly cutting back on the smokes on a six to nine month plan. Brian
WebFreeman Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 I've know some people who have used regular chewing gum to help w/ the oral fixation. Also toothpics, coffee stirrers, etc. Easy for a non-user to suggest.... “Many go fishing all their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after.” — Henry David Thoreau Visit my web site @ webfreeman.com for information on freelance web design.
hfdhoosier Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 I picked up my prescription today so we will see how I do. I got lucky because my insurance paid all but the co-pay and I had a card from the Chantix literature that paid it. No cost to me, I hope this works. Don Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 This is the first reply to this thread since March. I am interested in results from previous repliers. I have been eating Chantix for over a week. No noticeable side affects. I told my doctor I had to do something about my sloking habit of 30 years. He stated that I do not fill the prescription unless I an 100% committed to quit. He said Chantix reduces your craving for nicotine but you can not be 99% committed to quit, you have to be 100% committed. I filled my script on the way home. I have cut back 50% in the last week without trying very hard. Now comes the tough part. I am camping and flyfishing by mydelf below Beaver Dam next weekend. Starting Saturday morning, I will never smoke another cigarette again. Fair warning to those who are thinking about joining me that weekend Don May Don May I caught you a delicious bass.
denjac Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 I heard a home remedy on XM radio channel 170, its a truck driver station. A lady said that 1/2 teaspoon of cream of tartor in a glass of orange juice before bed, no more nicotine cravings. Several others called in stating they had good results from it. They also said that you could use any juice. Dennis Boothe Joplin Mo. creek wader Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 I have a prescription to Chantix, sitting on my desk at home along with the "smoking sensation package." I haven't pulled the trigger yet. I've smoked for over 30yrs. During that time I stopped for over 4yrs. I thought I was done with it. All it took was one smoke and I was hooked again. I'm going to try the Chantix. But, I know that It'll take will power the rest of my life to resist that one smoke again. Smoking is a nasty, smelly, deadly habit. But, I enjoy it. I hope this stuff works. wader
