When did you catch it? I assume that was the C&R? "Your chances of ever catching a record fish increase in direct proportion to your distance from a reliable scale"
Members BKB Posted April 1, 2008 Members Posted April 1, 2008 What's the moral story of the thread??? CATCH AND RELEASE WORKS!!!
Gavin Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 The moral of the story? Fish over a fish in a bathtub long enough and you will catch it. Its gotta eat sometime.

I don't know if you are downplaying a fish caugt in the c&r but they are the smartest trout I have ever fished for and you have to be concious about tippit size and natural feeding. They know how to eat other things in there than brown food pellets. If anyone with a hook could catch them they would all be gone because people that don't care would sneak them out. Size of the water does not determine the quailty of fish or the skill needed the catch them. Any time you land a brown over 20" let alone 32" on a 4wt or less rod with 2lb tippit you should thank the good Lord that He let you get it done. The Great Commission Was To Go Fish-n
ekl-stl Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 Well said Pastor.. Getting a fish to bite is only part of the battle.. Landing big fish is tough.... especially when they run under or up into the hatchery outlet in the C&R..

The C&R closes when the whistle blows, like anywhere else inside the park. I'm sure it was right at the whistle, or else he just didn't land it untill dark. I have seen that happen before, which is OK as long as its hooked before the buzzer. (I'm sure...might check with CA though) "Your chances of ever catching a record fish increase in direct proportion to your distance from a reliable scale"
