An Idea To Keep The Rules And The Peace

Hi Everyone.

I'll keep this brief. First time poster. I'm a lifetime fisherman (mostly Bass and Bass tourneys with Hawg Hawlers Bass Club) but over the past three years I've gotten more and more into the Trout. Got hooked on the Catch and Release season when I Got lucky last year with a 26" Rainbow and Unlucky... not a sole around to take a photo. Anyway, after seeing a number of posts about some of the rule benders and breakers...and having seen some of it myself, I have a suggestion.

Since everybody has to wear a tag to fish in the park, how about this. I propose the MDC (or whoever is in charge of the tags) Makes them a little larger and prints both sides as follows.

Side 1: All the general rules and details that will fit. This side would not be required to be visible.

Side 2: This Side would be required to be visible at all times and would have the individual tag number at the bottom and above would be printed "KINDLY LET ME KNOW IF I AM BREAKING ANY RULES"

So then what you have is an open invitation for folks to "KINDLY" remind each other of the regulations. Those that know they are outside the law would know that they will be reminded all day.....and maybe reconsider their disregard for the rules. Anybody have thoughts on this? Good or bad Idea?

I had to chuckle when I read this...

First I think the idea has merit.

But I smiled cause I thought you might sub the statement with... "kick me if I'm bad" like the note you put on the kid at school- "kick me"

Heck, I'd be in favor of a more permanent type tag that people would have to display in the blue ribbon area (and Montauk CR season). Say a pin-on type placcard that replaces a trout stamp, maybe 2"X3" displaying only the permit ID #.

Kick me when I do something stupid would wear the soles on my boots out too fast, maybe in one day if it is a weekend. I almost planned a trip up this weekend and realized it was Men's Tournament Sat. I can only imagine the kicking going on with all of those "professional" guys looking for the trophy....

Lilley, here is the events calendar off MissouriTrout.com. Ladies tourny is March 29. We have reservations for the storytellin weekend, it may be a hoot. It is also Youth Turkey season and me and the daughter may have to find an ole bird around there for camp food.
