ozarksfishin Posted March 16, 2008 Author Posted March 16, 2008 No hard feelings at all Babler, you bring to light some agreeable points. I just hope the next 6 1/2lb. Bill Babler Posted March 16, 2008 Posted March 16, 2008 Good Luck in the derby Stoney. I Knew that coal thing would get me in trouble as soon as I typed it. I like my new body, might be worth a hot foot. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Members brianbarker Posted March 17, 2008 Members Posted March 17, 2008 Not to start any heated debate on wether or not to keep any fish or to give them to Bass Pro, I can see good arguments for both sides. I still think putting a fish like that in a tank is better than taking her home and putting her in the freezer to mount someday. Just my 2 cents. (P.S. please be easy on me Babbler, LOL!) And yes Jeremy that is a 6lb. plus smallie, nice one! Anyway, Mike emailed me and sent this in reply: Phil thanks for putting the photo up.I cant see it for some reason but i heard it was up.Also if you could tell the people that the reason I put her in basspro is so my kids and grand kids can see him and everyone elses kids as well .What a life you will never end up in a skillet and you dont have to go far to eat.I put a 5.15 in 2 years ago and now it weighes 8.10.It is in the springfield store. Also we now have allmost 50 stores now so its not like we are just stocking springfield. These fish are seen all over the country by thousands of kids every day.Hopefully these fish they see will keep them dreeming about the big one they can catch and thats why i put one or two fish a year in our stores. Thanks MIKE WEBB If anyone gets a chance to stop and check out that 8 pound monster do so, its amazing to see a smallmouth that huge, even if it is in a tank at bass pro. I've always wondered where she came from and who caught it but now I know.. awesome fish. Makes me want to hit the water every time I see her. taxidermist Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 Ok, its far better than the fish being filleted. We saw a guide laying the knife to three nice brown trout at Wildcat yesterday. Incomming fish quarentined? Anyway can any tell me about BPS aquarium system in the Springfield store? Water filtration system? How do they dechlorinate the water? How often do the big fish die off? Could someone get a back stage tour of the facilities if they were doin an article for a magazone? Who at BPS is the contact person? As for the bug eyed fish, even small fish underwater tend to have that! I have watched a lot of fish underwater and they ae bug eyed. helps them locate prey.
Fishing Buddy Don House Posted March 17, 2008 Fishing Buddy Posted March 17, 2008 Ran into friend and fellow guide, Mike Webb at the ramp as we were coming in this afternoon, and he reported only catching two keepers, but one was this 6.42lb. Smallie!!! Mike caught the giant on a Bass Pro Shops XPS grub, he did say the depth, but he was in the Dam area. The Smallmouth are definetley on the move!! I put my son Kolby in the pic to use as scale just to show how big this fish is. After the pic, Mike was on his way to Springfield, and the fish will soon be in the tanks at Bass Pro in Springfield. Nice fish Mr. Webb another one to add to the list of big fish this guide has caught on Table Rock Lake.. I bet only a few know that Mike held the State Record for the Mean mouth for a little bit of time on Table Rock Lake also. So the man can fish and Table Rock is full of them! And yes I have my own thoughts of catch and release, but we will just smile and wish it was me.. Good Fishing Everyone Capt. Don Capt.
