Members mbgrulz Posted March 16, 2008 Members Posted March 16, 2008 Are the beetles fishing good right now? i haven't had much luck on top so far, but i attributed that to the high/fast water.
WebFreeman Posted March 16, 2008 Posted March 16, 2008 You couldn't wait a couple weeks!? Now everybody will have them. I'm dragging the fam down during spring break, thursday I think. Do you ever use beetles as an indicator w/ a dropper underneath? Nice video, too. “Many go fishing all their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after.” — Henry David Thoreau Visit my web site @ webfreeman.com for information on freelance web design.
catman Posted March 16, 2008 Posted March 16, 2008 I tried them yesterday and they didn't work for me, I went to a Elk Hair Caddis with 7X and thumped them just below the surface once the Caddis got wet and submurged just a little (with 6X there were looks but NO hits). It was COLD and WINDY for sure. There were lot and lots of people there for sure. Spring breakers are at RR..... I was born at night, but not last night. Odds are with the prepared...
timsfly Posted March 16, 2008 Author Posted March 16, 2008 Been a lot of trout caught on beetles already this year, sat. cold and rainy they didn't work as well, but today it is nicer and people are buying them pretty quick, one fellow bought 2 this morning and came up at noon and bought 3 more and just left a few minutes ago with 4 more of the black beetles, he is catching a lot of fish on them today, I have sold a lot of beetles the past week, I caught a few on the last week. jscheetz Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 Yep - for me the more it warmed up that day the better the beetles did - JS "We are living in the midst of a Creation that is mostly mysterious - that even when visible, is never fully imaginable". -Wendell Berry-
zsmith62 Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 Gonna be camping down at RR wednesday, so tied up some beetles too, I do them the same way, but I dub in some peacock black ice dub under the foam. Zach Smith
timsfly Posted March 17, 2008 Author Posted March 17, 2008 I'll bet those will work just as well, there are a lot of ways to dress the beetle. I tie peacock in for the belly sometimes, but it isn't as durable as some of the shiny new dubbings and mylar tinsels.
