Just heard they are not going to open flood gates unless they have to. They're afraid there's no place to hold the water below which is scarey because Bull Shoals is usually the "bath tub" and holds all the access water. That means they're afraid BS won't hold it all.

They are going to run 4 full for as long as it takes. BUT they are expecting Table Rock to crest at

931 ft!

That's basically at the top of the flood gates.

I've seen it at 928.5 one December in the late 80's.

If we get anymore rain in the next several weeks, they'll have to open the gates I'd think.

Well now we've heard that they have all 10 gates open at Table Rock. Will check back.

Looks like this will mess the Crappie fishing up for awhile. The lake has came up 7' since yesterday and is still on the rise. I remember the lake getting to 928 in the late 80's. I put in at Cape fair at the booth where you pay your fees and motored around the pick-nick tables.

Like I posted over in another thread, what happens to the hatchery if it goes over the new spillway ? Not aware of the MSL reading where it does go over the spillway but that would seem like it would be disaster for the hatchery down below. Latest lake level on the National Weather Service is 921 and rising so it can go up another 10 feet and then lookout.

It's not even close to that... the only way they open the new gates is if

1. the old gates are open 100%

2. at that rate of release the hatchery would be under 60 feet of water

3. even with the 10 old gates open at 100% and if the lake is still rising and threatening to go over the earth dam...

THEN they will open the new flood gates.

We aren't even close to that...

We'd have to get another 48 hour rain back to back for that to even come close to happening.

Phil, wouldn't that almost put you underwater? :o Maybe all this water will change the channel some by washing some of the gravel on down.

I know in the spring of 90, I was on leave from the AF and purchased a new Tracker. I remember fishing the around the picnic tables and other structure in Joe Bald park. That's about as high as I remember.

Another confirmation- crest at 931.

They're going to open the other flood gates this afternoon, bringing it up to all 10.

They had beaver flood gates open today for a whilel. Wish I could have seen it. I don't know how high the dam is on Table Rock but I know Beaver is over 200 ft. That would look pretty impressive. Also the Kings is as high as I've ever seen it but then I'm a relative new comer here.
