Crappie5 Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 Lilley, have you heard when the official crest day/time will be? I think I heard sometime Saturday. Another confirmation- crest at 931. They're going to open the other flood gates this afternoon, bringing it up to all 10.
Dutch Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 I just saw on the news that the USACE said the gates at Table Rock will remain open for the next 2 months. Bull Shoals will look like a small ocean. It may get like it was in 2002.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted March 21, 2008 Author Root Admin Posted March 21, 2008 I'm not sure about the crest at 931 now. It appears it's already crested at 928.something. Look at the chart. It was at 927.9 this morning and it's at 928.4 this evening. If they do release more water it will only help the level. Also- Curtis was at Lowes this am and talked to an Empire worker that said that the boards at Powersite were down. For those who don't know- there's a wall of boards/plywood the stretches across the top of the dam. The water usually goes over the boards. It's 4 feet high. One year in December when Table Rock was shooting up they shut the dam down, lowered the lake (taney) and cut the wood wall out so they could send more water thru Taney. Then they supposedly designed the wall to give way when alot of water flow over it... I guess it worked. There's also 2 sections of the spillway that gives way but it's only about 5% of the total length. So- they are able to release more water thru Taney on its way to Bull Shoals thanks to the boards being down at Powersite. That makes our water run faster!
Forsythian Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 I just read on John Berry's thread that the predicted crest at Bull Shoals is 675 next week... this would be 21 feet over power pool, and another 7 feet from where it is now. bummer Cenosillicaphobiac
soggyfeet Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 At what level will they open the new gates? Brian
Members RonS Posted March 21, 2008 Members Posted March 21, 2008 What was the lake level on Bull shoals the year the park at Forsyth was under water?
taxidermist Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 I have seen the Forsyth park underwater a few times. Anyone remember when they used a tug boat to pull the tow board off Powersite years ago? My Late Father in law had a house at the mouth of Beaver Creek and we have seen water within 50 feet of it. On BUll Shoals I have seen the Tucker Hollow camp ground where the first several sites near the ramp were underwater, we caught bats on fly rods one night and could not get to the first two tables. Also does anyone else remember the water in Taney getting up into Holister on the south side of the B65 bridge and covering where the traile rpark is? It also covered the area across the street where the wax museum and car museum use to be.
crappiefisherman Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 dang taxi you are old.I bet very few remember the wax museum and that old car being down there in turkey creek junction., besides us hillbillys,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, [ [
