Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted March 23, 2008 Root Admin Posted March 23, 2008 I got a feeling some of the creeks and rivers are starting to clear... any eye witness reports? Thinking of Swan and Beaver on Bull Shoals. I realize some of the major rivers like the Current and Meramac are going to be non-accessible for a while. We had great reports and images over the last week. I bet we covered the 2008 flood better than most- we all are grateful. But everyone keep us informed on the status of your creeks and rivers now that the water is receding. With some warm days ahead, fishing will really pick up quick and no body wants to miss out on another white bass run! People who fish, sell bait or guide in places where fishing is still possible should post and let everyone know- below dams especially. Thanks John Berry and Jenny at the Station below Truman... as well as others. Now if I can get Babler to write a report... and maybe do another video! PS- any reports should go under the proper topic.
jdmidwest Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 Everythings a washout over here. Local streams pulled alot of silt in and are still muddy and high. Cape Girardeau area still having flooding problems due to the Mississippi River being so high, lots of backwater. High winds this weekend kept me off the lakes Friday. Went out to the farm yesterday to see the flood damage there. A small creek that you can walk across swelled and rose 15 feet. 1/2 of the fencelines on a 300 acre farm gone. Road washout, treetops everywhere. We had several sleet/snow showers today along with a good gusty wind. timsfly Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 Flat creek is still high and off colored at least around jenkins, I drove thru there last night, was going to fish a bit, but it is still to high to fish in my hip boots, so I passed, but it is down a lot from last week, give it another week, it should be great floating and fishing most of the spring and into early summer. Members DoctaJ Posted March 25, 2008 Members Posted March 25, 2008 I haven't seen it, but my lady's mom and dad went out to the farm today and they said the meremac (Cuba area) is back down but muddy. I may try to go out Saturday morning and fish it a bit.
