Members Jackie D
Put in at Empire park today on guide trip. Water color was real good. Fished all the way up to The Landing. We were bass fishing today since the gentleman I took had his heart set on catching Table Rock bass...after a little discussion I convinced him we should probably stay clear of Table for a few more days and fish Taneycomo. Fished creeks off of main channel since the current is extremely strong. Roark Creek was full of boats and people fishing off of the shore. We had 7 keeper bites and landed 5 with 2 of them over 3 and client lost 2 good ones, one looked like 5-6 pounder....drag to tight, broke his line. We had 4-5 shorts and finally caught a couple rainbows before we went in. Best bait was a crankbait and a jig. The better largemouth were in the dirtier water. Creek water temps was 53-56 degrees Visit My Website Email Jackie Davis Davis Brothers Guide Service Visit my site @ http://BassProFishingGuide.Com

Bill Babler
Jackie, Welcome to the forum and thanks for the great report. Can't wait for some info. on the Rock. On another note, an ole axiuim my Grand Pappy always told me was "If you don't say anything, people will only suspect from the looks of you that you are stupid. If you open your mouth, it will pretty much become a fact." I try and live by these words, but sometimes the stupid shows anyway. Guided fishing and fishing should not even be used in the same sentence. I guide an average of 700 clients a year, on Table Rock, Taneycomo and in Alaska, and Love 100% of them all to death. On the other hand, 99% could not drop a minnow off the Titanic and hit the ocean, let alone pitch or throw a jig to a stationery object in the wind we had today. Most guide clients are very good with the drop-shot, and most can set the hook when advised that a fish is on their split-shot rig, but percision casting is not going to be their fort'a. The guide is not there to catch fish, he or she is there to enhance their clients ability to catch fish. There is no better dock fisherman in the mid-west, that can hold a candle to Jackie and his brother, money in the bank PERIOD... Our job,is finding fish if possible that can be taken, with, for the most part, ability that is not as astute as persons that fish on a daily basis. We all do the best we can. The closest most of my bass fishing clients get to a dock, is when they get in my boat and when I return them after the trip. Before people start to recommend what we should or should not do, they need to put on the old guide hat and see how it feels. You need to remember to not put on the Chef hat, but the client hat. It is not fun to be put in a situation that you cannot succed. Our job is to make it as easy as possible and I will tell you this, We all try as hard as we can. I hope I haven't let the stupid out. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com

Thanks for the kind words Bill. I couldn't have said it any better than you just did. I knew the best pattern for me to catch fish was to fish near the shore and bushes and docks but this nice gentleman didn't have the experience to cast with the accurancy you need to fish docks and the shallow cover properly. As you stated it wouldn't be fair for him to set and watch me catch fish with him not having anything tugging on his line. We adapted and ended up with a nice day. Be careful out there....I saw lots of floaters running in yesterday. Trav
I meant no disrespect with my suggestion. I just know where the bass on Lower Taney are in virtually every situation. I was just sharing a bit of the three decades of experiance I have on the Lower. As far as wearing the "guide hat", I have guided in 4 countries, for almost 10 years, both fresh and salt water. I am well aware of the duties towards giving the "client" the benifits of your expertise. I for one never let the clients inexperiance dictate where I took them fishing. I took them to the fish, PERIOD. If they werent knowledgable enough for the situation I just took advantage of that obstacle to teach them something new. That is what most people want.
