Amish Bill Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 I've got an idea, ignore him and perhaps he'll go away. I try to get along with everyone but he sure is trying. He,s always right and I get it Trav you've guided everywhere and done everything we read it on every post you write. I hope to come to Taney this summer and maybe meet some of you, I can't say that about Trav. "Life's too short to fish with a dead minner..."
soggyfeet Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 Oh crap I think someone is off their meds again Brian
Amish Bill Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 No just sick and tired of that blow-hard "Life's too short to fish with a dead minner..."

Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted March 30, 2008 Author Root Admin Posted March 30, 2008 So do me a favor my friend and dont knock the action below roark creek. Where did you get that from? Give me song and verse please. Just saying catching anything in this current above Roark with 6 guys in a pontoon is difficult- may not be as difficult down there with slower water and more places to get out of the current. That's why Roark is where we chose to go- both the client and guide. We differ in our philosophy in guiding. So be it.
Trav Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 Not true. You need to come up here and fish this fast water. Yes there are other creeks you can get out of the current and they do have fish but Roark is the largest area and easiest to get a pontoon in. You shouldn't be as judgmental, Trav. It doesn't bod well for your image I was just referring to your statement about Roark being the choice place to get away from current. I can describe a dozen other places below Roark that are just as good if not better. Your comment kind of made the rest of the lake seem obsolete. I agree with the difficulty in fishing this current. It doesnt slow down a whole bunch where I am. Haha, and there is a good reason why I wont ever go back to guiding again. I am all about agreeing to disagree. Thom Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 Quote I wont cater to clients that wont let me be the guide. I wont deal with the masses of those that seek only trophys. I wont cater to a single bait fisher. It will always be my way. After reading the above comments I think we know the reason you don't guide anymore. You actually need to have people that are gluttons for punishment and want a dictator who insists on their own way for a guide. Not me. (wink wink ha ha ha etc etc. Thom Harvengt
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted March 30, 2008 Author Root Admin Posted March 30, 2008 It's about a 5 mile run to Roark from here and another- what- 4-5 miles to Rockaway. Economics and time management would be the reasons why I wouldn't run any further downstream. I'd think that would be clear but may be not.

I am a rookie at trout fishing, and was planning a trip to taney this fall. I was thinking about hiring a guide. I think Trav would makea good guide. What other lake has a world wide renowned guide to put you on big fish?......if you dont think he is world wide just ask him.
Thom Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 There are some excellent guides at Taney. If it is your first trip it would be worth every cent + a nice tip to have one take you out. Be sure to call a few weeks early because these guy's do an excellent professional job and are sometimes not avaliable if you wait too late. Check with the local fly shops or PM me if you want a recommendation of 4 or 5 great guys by reputation and character who will put you on fish and show you a great time. Thom Harvengt
