In the interest of benefiting those of us with little time on the James, could someone add some more geographical reference points to the maps on this forum. I have been seeing a lot of names mentioned in the threads that aren't on the map. Also what would be the furthest up the James you'd be willing to take a bass boat? Link to the maps are found here: http://ozarkanglers.com/james_river/maps/

I appreciate the help in advance. Please edit the maps in Photoshop or something and post them on this thread so that everyone can see.

I won't go above Rolley Blunks in any kind of boat.

Thanks for the answer Dutch, and since I have no idea where Rolley Blunks is, it strengthens my point about there needing to be more place names on those maps. I don't want to end up like on Gilligan's Island.

Blunks is below Galena, and that's on any road map, let alone the maps here. I wouldn't go too far above that in a small tiller jet except in high water, like right now. A glass boat is asking for trouble really anywhere above where your "Fishing Hot Spots" Table Rock map ends.

If i could figure out how to show the map id help u out. point 15 is the dividing between flat creek and james river. "stones" is the first wider area north on james. "ashers cane bottom" is directly west of McCord bend (on the west or downstream side of the horseshoe). ashers has a nice ramp on the west side. its in a subdivision called walnut springs, caution that it gets busy and parking is very limited. "longs camp" is the very north side of the horseshoe bend, north and north east bank. can be accessed from car, west of galena. McCord bend is a small town right on the river. gravel ramp and limited bank fishing. "blunks" is another access with good ramp and lots of bank fishing. Taylor shoal is where the river bends north above blunks, caution as there are 3 very large rocks in the middle that are known for tearing up lower units, at regular water levels of course. Wilsons creek is just above taylor shoal on the east side. Jentry cave is next where the river turns west, right in the bend. thats as far as i normally ever go and thats as I have learned the river from locals in my lifetime. used james river lower 1-2 map for reference.
