Pour Dennis Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 Had a club tournament out of Shell Knob Bridge. We had 5 boats and out of ten anglers only three managed to catch fish. I was not one of them (lol). All of the fish caught were Kentucky's. All fish were caught on jigs flipped or pitched in close to the trees. First place had three fish for over 9 pounds. Second place was one fish that weighed 6.2 pounds (see pic). Third place was one fish that weighed just over 2 pounds. I had 2 bites and only got one to the boat. It was a real short Kentucky. The weather conditions for the tournament were the worst I think I have ever fished.

Last week people were saying they saw nice colored water. Now I'm hearing coffee colored with cream. I hope today's rain is far enough north so the lake can clear up some.
Pour Dennis Posted March 31, 2008 Author Posted March 31, 2008 Some guys in the tourney said they found stained to heavily stained down past Big M. I fished in Big Bay all ther way to the other side of Baxter and could not find anything that clean.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted March 31, 2008 Root Admin Posted March 31, 2008 It's not bad at in the dam area. Heard the place finishers at a tournament yesterday (I think) caught their fish there on pea gravel and in the brushes. I'd keep trying pea gravel banks- swim a grub or rig.
Members cofobasser Posted March 31, 2008 Members Posted March 31, 2008 I am a student at college of the ozarks and have fished many tournaments before college started and fished a few here and there since I started. Just wandering if there are any bass clubs around the branson area to join. I have heard there is a branson bassmaster and I would love to find out some more information. Thanks, Bobby Loyd aka cofobasser
Members Doug Weston Posted March 31, 2008 Members Posted March 31, 2008 I went out yesterday. I went up Roaring river arm. The water there had a nice green tint and about 2-3 foot visibility depending on how far back you went. I was able to catch 2 kentuckys neither one a keeper. both were about 14 inches. I caught them both flipping a jig near "stuff". Water temp was 54 from the mouth to the back, and I mean the back. I went all the way to the 86 bridge in Eagle Rock. For right now it is still pretty safe to navigate back there. There are some floaters but the depth is enough to go all the way back. I wanted my boys to catch some white bass, but no luck with them. techo Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 cofobasser, Your question is a bit off of the original posters topic. A new thread might have been cool. Most of the folks around here are purty nice fellas though. I did a quick search and there is a list of bass clubs. I think the Ozark Mountai guys meet in Springfield. CaptainJoe Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 cofobasser, This reply is off topic, but the closest Bass Club to you would be the Branson Bass Club, aka Branson Bassmasters. We meet the 1st Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p. m. at the White River Electric meeting rooms (back parking lot) on Hwy 76 in Mount Branson. Feel free to PM me for more info.
