Terry Beeson Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 I don't disagree with you, Trav, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt in this case and hope for the best. At 50, I'd probably run up the steps (OK.. OK.. OK... WALK up the steps) and show a "biggun" off to my 81 year old mom myself. Project Healing Waters Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 I still say folks should have to take a test to get a fishing, hunting, or boating license the same way we do for a driver's license. Then again, I think there should be a parent license, too. So I realize my views are not mainstream. http://www.projecthealingwaters.org

Also you must pass a hunters safety course to hunt deer and other large game. Smallmouth Man
soggyfeet Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 I dont think a test would do any good for any of the things you have listed. Look at all the drivers who dont know the rules of the road as is. Stiffer penatlys and more regulation is possabaly the only way. I dont know how many times Ive been fishing in my life but I do know ive only been checked for my licence once and Im 31 yrs old. Fished on quite a few lakes and rivers in missouri and only one timed checked on a small city lake last year at about 1:00 in the morning. Maybe with heftier fines for poachers and increased licences for the offenders would let the state up the number of officers. Another idea I had was if a person is caught poaching or fishing without a licence (no matter if its the first time or not) all fishing equipment includeing all rods reels and tackel at the house confinscated and sold to pay for officers and so that legal fisherman that follow the rules and pay for their licences can get a good deal or donated to youth fishing programs.
