I'm thinking about coming up this weekend to try my luck on the Rock and was wondering where the clearest water might be come Sunday. I was up that way last weekend and crossed the Hwy 13 bridge and it was pretty dirty. Do you think think the rain the last couple of days will muddy the dam area back up or will it be reasonably clear come Sunday?

You might try the Indians west and north of the dam. Cow Creek across from point 5.

From the looks of the radar last night, it looks like TR got a lot more rain. Is there any decent places to fish? I was going to the Indian/Cow creek area, but it looked like it got soaked.

Thanks!

If you just want clear water, I can put you on it.

Start at Beaver Town, Holiday Island, thru Roaring River Owl Creek area. Surface clarity is easily 20 ft.

Holiday Island, Eagle Rock area 25 feet of visibility. and water temps of 52 degrees. Strong current.

Fished it for 7 hrs. today and caught only one fish. Really nice 3 pounder, but that and a walleye bite were the only two bites we had. Can't find the bank or the old shoreline. Trees are standing in 15 to 17 ft. with water behind them. Pitch a jig in there if you think it will do you any good.

We tried, blades in the tree tops. Jigs in the bushes, stickbaits in the cuts and on the bluffends, football jigs out to 25 ft. on the flats and rolloffs, and for the sake of us we couldn't locate any ledges in this mess.

Remember, most years at this time we are at 911 and the Dr. Bite is on. today we are at 927.7, behind a cold front.

My Oh, My, It should be better than this. What did we do to deserve it.

Thanks guys.....I made it up there Sunday and hooked up w/ Gone Fishin and fished from Cow Creek to Indian Creek. We had a fairly good day on the water number wise but never could find that big bite. We had a few that would go 2 1/2 lbs or so but nothing much bigger than that. Our biggest 5 might have went 11 lbs or so. Talked to some guys at the ramp that had a club tournament and it took over 14lbs to win & big bass was over 8 1/2lbs.

I'll be down this Sunday. Anything in particular that worked for you?

There is clear enough water 1 to 2 feet right off off of the banks. It just happens to have bass there also looking for a meal.

The dirty water color is your friend right now, throw some big baits. Spinner baits or 3/4 ounce jigs with BIG trailers. Dirty water is a prime canidate for reaction baits.

Set the trolling motor on high and cover some water.

How do I deal with those who ignore the 50 yard encroachment rule?......I show them just how accurate I am with a crank bait! rtj4bb.gif

It looks like some heavy rain going through the Rock right now. It is going to be "dirty" water this weekend. I think it is still too early to throw anything so big. I can see through a rattle jig...

Leaving out Friday morning for the Rock and will fish "hard" on Saturday for a bass tourney. I don't think the fishing will be that good...but keeping my fingers crossed!
