Don Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 Those who know me know that I fish alot. To date, I haven't been in exactly two months. You know; job, kids, chores, floods, etc. I'm going nuts after this long drought. Well, the van is loaded for a camp trip. I'll hit somewhere on Stockton tomorrow afternoon after my daughter's soccer game. I don't know where and I really don't care, just as long as I get to go. I'll be conducting the maiden voyage of my new pontoon drift boat and I will be flyfishing for white bass for the first time. Wish me luck folks and the feeling is likewise for others who get to go. I hope to follow up with a good report. Don May Don May I caught you a delicious bass.
Don Posted April 8, 2008 Author Posted April 8, 2008 Camp good.....Fish bad. Camped at Orleans Trail. I was the only one in B loop. I listened to NCAA games around the fire. It felt great to get out for a change. Didn't fish there because of boat problems and when I was ready, there were two boats in the area I wanted to fish. Fished masters 2 hours Sunday - nothing. Went to Taylor and looked around at the flooded water, then went home. Don Don May I caught you a delicious bass.
Flysmallie Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 Well at least you got out and had a chance to sit by the fire. I love just sitting around the campfire at night. So how was the maiden voyage of the pontoon?
Don Posted April 8, 2008 Author Posted April 8, 2008 The only way to haul it around was on top of my van. They roll up the sidewalks early Sat night in Stockton. I bought some straps at a marine shop the next day. I got a good workout paddling in the wind, but the boat did well. Apparently I didn't bolt the seat back tight and the bolts shook out on the way home, so I need new pins/bolts for the seat back. Oh well, lessons learned. I'm now ready to float some rivers once the waters settle down. Don Don May I caught you a delicious bass.
