Terry Beeson Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 I remembered Pettigrew, but had to look up Red Star on Mapquest. My dad was the answer man when it came to local geography. You could name most any wide spot in the road in Arkansas and a lot of SW Missouri, and my dad could tell you where it was. Many times he would use that same answer as I gave... Somewhere between two other places nobody had ever heard of... Clay Goforth Posted April 15, 2008 Author Posted April 15, 2008 Unfortunately we didn't see any animals...I need to head over to Ponca soon. I am getting the itch to float. George, I will be sending your rod to you tomorrow. Got the check yesterday. You know, had to make sure it cleared before I shipped the rod Just kidding. Terry, have you fished any of those streams around there? I didn't know if they ran all year enough to hold fish or if they were wet because of the recent rain...You are correct though, some of them look like they would hold some mean smallmouth. This place, in all honesty, is kind of difficult to find. The first time I went, if I hadn't had someone with me that had already been, I don't know that I could have found it. You go to Boston, AR and turn left on some little dirt county road...Drive for two miles and the road forks, stay right, drive two more miles and the road comes to a T. Turn left, go over a small bridge and there is a turn in on the left. NO SIGNS. You basically have to just know where to go. It is a brilliant place to visit though. I have been on a couple of these wild goose chases...I have been over and hiked for the Devil's fork on Richland Creek below Jasper a couple of times and still haven't found it. There is no trail cut, you have to go off of landmarks and creek beds. Unless of course you cheat and use GPS. twosets Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 Clay The bank gives you a whole book of those checks, I've got plenty. If that one isn't any good, I will be glad to send another. George "This is not Nam. This is bowling. There are rules."
DD'sMC Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Clay, Have you ever hiked to the Glory Hole? We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give. The two best times to go fishing? When it is raining and when it is not.
