i have gone to gravois creek occasionally for a couple years now just to catch anything and waste sometime.......i have noticed there are some huge carp in this creek have not managed to catch them with numours tries..i think they become to scared to bite in the case of the creek being so narrow they can probably spot me as soon as a i come down the hill. just wondering if anyone has ever fished this creek before

I really don't think them being close matters.I've caught them in small creeks with Cane Pole.

They can be spooky, but more than likly they're being picky. They can be like trout, they start feeding on something abundant and ignore all others.

I would use corn, and throw some out for them to get used to. Be kind to them, they're a lot of fun to catch.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

I was doing some scouting today with the nice weather and noticed all the signs everywhere along Gravois Creek saying no fishing, swiming, etc. Is their a legal place to fish?

Ted, I've never fished it but a good bit of that creek flows through Clydesdale Park (Tesson Ferry & Greenpark). I think the signs are from MSD, there way of alerting the public to all the problems on that creek. I dont think anyone would care if you fished it, but I wouldnt want to swim, or change flies w/o my nippers.....Good Luck.

Thanks for the info. Your right in that the signs were from MSD. I guess with all the blood sucking lawyers out there, someone would sue the county. I am just looking for a good place to catch carp on the fly. Any suggestions?

So those signs are because after a heavy rain those creeks have the potential to get backflow from the sewers and the carp may not be the only brown floaters in there. i still fish there, i just dont pay attention to the signs.

People look at me like I am crazy but I get on my hands and knees to sneak up on tailing carp. 99% of the time I fail to get them to eat my fly. But when they do its like hooking a freight train.
