Hogfan Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 Gent's we are getting way to much repetition, Before you ask a question, which I am sure is very important and most of all important to you. Take a couple of minutes and work down the list of topics that we have covered in the last week. People posting a new topic about LAUNCH OR RAMP QUESTIONS, will appear to others to be extremely uninformed. i was going to put Stupid but Becky told me not to. We have covered and recovered this to death. You are not only taking up our precious time to respond, but filling up the forum with the same questions that have been answered and reanswered. Anyone that responds to a Launch or Ramp question from this point, will be deemed in the same class with the "NUM-NUT'S" that asked it. Harsh? Maybe so, maybe not. If someone doesn't have the interest to look 4 posts down, before posting something, he or she has no busness to be asking in the first place. I will not comment on any ramps again until there is a change to report. Nither should the rest of you regulars, enough is by far enough. I agree with echoXLT on this one. Not all of us have the ability to be on the lake or on this forum every day of the week. I appreciate the info you folks provide and envy the fact you make you’re living on the water. You put in your 50+ hours a week just like the rest of us and I don’t doubt that one bit. However, admit it or not this forum is part of your business therefore you spend more time on here than the average guy. Past, present, and future clients check the forum daily for your reports which probably has and will generate business for you and the others. Fishermen (me being one of them) read your reports weekly and appreciate the fact that you’re not only detailed with them but you’re being honest as well. If I were to hire a guide for the day you would have been right up there at the top of the list. On the other hand, I could be one of these guys you’re calling a “Stupid, Extremely Uniformed, NUM-NUT”. You see Bill, not all of us have the time to hop on the board every day and keep up with what’s going on. I might be on here 3 times today and then again I might not be able to check in again for 3 days which would put me about 25 posts behind everyone else. The best part about this board is the quick response. A guy can post a simple question “Where can I launch?” and within 20 minutes someone will respond. Does it have to be you? NO, you don’t have to respond but it’s much appreciated when you do. You say folks don’t have the “interest to read 4 posts down”. That’s not true. I only wish I had the time to read every post because there’s so much info out there that you can’t find anyplace else. Keep in mind that hundreds of people will read your posts daily and that people ask questions for answers not attitude. These people could post somewhere else but they don’t, they come to you guys for answers. Personally, I would take pride in that alone and be as respectful as I could even if it meant biting my tongue sometimes. These NUM-NUTs you speak of are people who respect your word and I believe they deserve a little respect back.
Tightline Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 I'm with Bill,it doesn't take 30 seconds to click on the Tablerock forum and see if any body else has posted about loading ramps,or what they are biting on,or where at,ect. Hog don't pay any attention to Bill being kinda abrasive at times, its just one of those things that happen when you get to a certain age!!
Hogfan Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 I agree it doesn't take long to look at the post, but it doesn't take long to skip one and go to the next if you don't want to read or reply to it. Bill spoke about precious time and we can all relate to that in one way or another. Don't get me wrong I don't think people should start new threads without looking around first either, but we shouldn't be harsh on those that do it without thinking first.
soggyfeet Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 I think its pretty simple and more so lately. If you click on new post it gives you all the new post since your last visit. And with the water being so high lately someone is going to ask or update a ramp topic. I went through the other day when Bill first posted this to see how many different threads at Table Rock for ramps, I think there were seven different ones. It only took me 2 minutes to find those and if Im not mistaken that would be a better use of your time than to waste 20 minutes waiting for a reply. I dont blame Bill for getting a little hot under the collar every now and then. I couldnt imagine the number of phone calls and PMs the guy gets. And then to come on here and looking for some fishing entertainment and see the same thread over and over. Instead of waiting 20 minutes call a marina, going fishing, and come back here and tell us how you did. Brian
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted April 22, 2008 Root Admin Posted April 22, 2008 Back when the forum was young or even back I had a simple posting board, I felt like I had to answer every question (along with Bill). As the forum grew, it took alot of pressure off me, Bill and others. Now the pressure is almost totally off. There's people here that answer questions better than us! BUT I think Bill puts undo pressure on himself to be the go-to guy when he shouldn't. When I see a repetitious question in my area of expertise, I just let it go and someone else will come along and answer it. It works.
S&M Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 As a suggestion, and this comes from someone who has been a moderator on the largest Mopar drag racing board on the internet. I would suggest placing an important topic like this as a "sticky" or for this boards purpose, posted in the "Important Topics" for a couple of weeks of maybe even a month. Then all other topics about where to launch should just be deleted if it's causing the board grief. This is only a suggestion board owners, I would never tell you how to run your board. How do I deal with those who ignore the 50 yard encroachment rule?......I show them just how accurate I am with a crank bait!
FRENZEL Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 Its called reading.....Left to right ,,,top to bottom...Group of words makes a sentence, multiple sentences make a paragraph. Has nothing to do with time out on the water. TRACY FRENZEL FRENZELS GUIDE SERVICE 417-699-2277 "ONE MORE CAST"
